Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head.............

    By Rush Limbaugh:

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11 Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that! some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.)

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma Citybombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well..

You see where this i s going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

" When do we finally do something about this?"

Tell me how he is a racist.

The only people that ever made that claim is the liberal media. I have listened to Rush for years and he has never said anything racist or prejudice.

Me too, Tommy he is a white man that speaks his mind and tells it how it is [most of the time] there for he is a racist. I have listened to him for a very long time and not one time have I heard him say any thing racist. Now he damn sure aint no liberal I guess now a days if you aint a Liberal you must be racist.

Exactly. This whole racist thing by the media started because he said he hopes Obama fails. He was saying that he hoped Obama fails in his socialization of the country. It had nothing to do with race. Of course, liberals will twist and distort what the man says because they can't ever prove the man wrong. So, they just try to discredit him by making things up. I find it funny that no one will debate him. Instead, they just lie and talk crap about him.

If tou are green it does not matter to him as long as your views are the same. Here are a few racist that come to mind David Duke.(I would love to give him a shot to the head with my brass nucks) Al sharpton hes all kinds of Screwed up. and Jessie Jackson. Now there are a few you can pick apart.

  11. First and foremost, my thoughts below should not be deem to "hate" on the US Armed Forces. I have family member(s) that chose a career in this field and have fought in Kuwait, Irak, Afghanistan, and other places.

However, I do differ in opinion and will point them individually.

I have not kept current with the 9/11 fund but last I checked (a few months ago), NO ONE had received a dollar. In fact, millions of dollars have been spent by the insurance company in court cost in an attempt to prevent any payment from being made.

In other words, "they" do not want to pay a cent.

Conversely, payments made to the families of military personnel is not disputed.

The difference in dollar amount is due to a simple thing. The majority of people who lost their lives on 9/11 were highly compensated employees. In other words, these folk made tons of money (tons = 120K+ to start). Military personnel however made a fraction of those salaries.

Of course is not enough (to some of them). If your husband and only income provider used to make base 300K + quarterly bonuses (totaling close to 1 Million) and your house expenses total in the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, why not demand more money for the wrongful deaths of people who NEVER chose to pick up a gun.

These 9/11 folk where not "in the wrong place at the wrong time"...They were at their job/office working to care for their families. There was zero expectation danger in their field. In contrast, military folk know from day ONE that they may die in the line they chose.

Hmmm, I KNOW some are going to break their PC screens for what I am about to say.

IMHO, most people who enlist in the military come from food stamp, low-rent housing. After all, this is their "way out" of poverty and status quo. Obviously, there are some young people who DO come from well-off families that simply chose that life for themselves. Yet, those people are in the minority. The majority choose this career path over staying in their "hood", hanging with the wrong crowd, and working at a McD's or KFC. Some just simply feel they cannot afford college and the military will help them [eventually].

Does it make sense now? :p

Ha! This is a technique used by sansationalists to drive more emotion on a topic. He jumped from comparing 9/11 victims and dead US soldiers to pointing at the compensation and raise rate of politicians (a position naturally hated by most).

Yes, politicians have things setup well for themselves. I am not in total agreement with it but can see some reason behind it.

In order to attract the best people to represent us (in political field), it must be made financially attractive for the "elite" minds to want to jump in. Otherwise, they would look into other fields in the private sectors.

How else would you attract Alumni of the Yales and Harvards of this country? Remember that government is competing with corporations in attracting the best minds.

--------damn, that was it?-----------let me see what else others typed---------------

Hmmm, is he racist or not? I cannot recall what he said that got him suspended a while back.....I thought it was a comment about a basketball team....it could be a female basketball team but I could be mistaking him for someone else.

One thing is for sure, it has been MY experience that the most racist people (if we want to generalize) are African-Americans. go ahead and start your teeth grinding......hmmm, i feel some of you may want to rebut me on this so I will hold off on my ammo until one of you takes the bait.:D

Do not get me wrong, I love black people as much as I do Asians, Whites, Mulatos, and Mestisos, etc, etc.....especially the women.;)

Black, white, yellow whatever! IMHO, shades of one color.

Good post Rock. I take it growing government means more jobs for those with elite education i didnt think about that.

That was Don Imus you were talking about who got suspended from radio cause the ball team. It seems there was less racism and prejudice with nonblack men in the white house. I have a very white republican godfather even hes moving away right now because we have a black mayor. But even before Obama, Rush had said many controversial flat out racist things but hes speaking to his own demographic and it helps his ratings so atleast he stays true to his believes.

I know alot about people white black and in between. Sacramento Ca. is the most diverse city in the entire US 58 different dialects spoken here so you can imagine how hard it is for law enforcement. Those of you in the midwest especially dont all know how it is to grow up like this, you might have some latinos and some asians maybe a few punjabis and black but nothing like here we got shit you havnt heard of yet we got more hybrids than anywhere also

He's made more than one suspect comments regarding race or made a subliminal remark that was kind of a "sneak diss". Like when he recently witin the last year said the NFL, a league dominated by blacks could be in comparison to the bloods and crips?????Like... What the fuck is runnin through this guys mind to say that publicly. This is why he was denied part ownership of the St. Louis Rams... because of dumb remarks like this.

Just to play devil's advocate; I will say one group signed up for battle and the others were innocent victims. All the soldiers volunteered to be combatants and little Susie secretary did not. Rush is always getting people fired up over nothing. He is the voice of the mindless followers.

Pardon me, but that drug-abusing traitor has been proved wrong so many times by all media it isn't funny. The only ones who believe everything he has to say either share his views, don't listen carefully or are simply too uninformed to be taken seriously.

  20. HighCoastHiker

    HighCoastHiker Top Dog

Precisely. The situation is sad, but simple. The payouts going to 9-11 victims were'are being made to people the entire nation called innocent victims of a horrendous tragedy. Most of this money is coming from insurance companies representing various entities,..world trade center, airlines, etc.

However, when one is a soldier one is goes into harms way with the understanding/expectation that serious injury or death can occur. This is why everyone is who joins the armed services must sign a contract stating that they understand these facts, and the corresponding rights to compensation. They aren't sitting in their offices, or the subway one day.

Now that Mr. Limbaugh has AGAIN been proved to be nothing more that a big mouthed blowhard (remember he was supposed to move to Costa Rica if health reform passed?) He's trying to change the subject by riling up uninformed sheeple about the disparity in payments between professional soldiers and civillian victims.

The treatment and misuse of our soldiers is disgraceful. However, let us not forget that it was RUSH LIMBAUGH and the other paid shills who are most responsible for helping G. Bush, D. Cheney and D. Rumsfeld put them in harms way in the first place.

When those of us who knew better protested and said DO NOT SEND OUR SOLDIERS TO FIND INVISIBLE WEAPONS, we were called traitors, cowards, you name it. Now, a hemmorhoid on the unwiped rectum of humanity, like Rush Limbaugh, can pretend he had nothing to do with it, because the uninformed are happy to lie along with him.
