    Whats going on guys,

Well this morning I was awaken by my dogs barking like crazy, around 4:30am This morning. They are usally quite and dont bark much, but when I went out to the back yard I saw around ten turtles that were dug into the sand in my backyard. My back yard is really a 1/2 arce then the rest is a lake. Well when I left to work this morning around 9am I noticed that all the turtles had left and laid eggs in the sand. Does anyone have any information on how long it takes the eggs to hatch????? or any other info....

    Once Again
    Thanks Guys

I dont know the answer but what kind of turtles?
When i was a little kid i caught about 10 eastern box turtles in Maryland. I picked my favorite one and brought him home to cali on the plane. You couldnt do that these days. My dad told me to keep my mouth shut about the turtle and by the end of the plane ride every one was wishing me luck with my turtle:p Woops

in Ontario they nest in the dirt on the side of the roads, near swamps and little ravines, I'll figure out how long the incubation of the eggs are here, should be the same as the turtles there in your area!

Did it look like that? That is a eastern box turtle but this one is not nearly as cool as my Fast Eddy!

  7. It is between 2-3 months.

I strongly suggest you call a zoo or animal control and advise them of the situation. Unfortunately it seems something is wrong with the sand of your lake. That or you never noticed them coming to your land to hatch. If you decide to leave them be, make sure you help them get to the lake safely.

I would hate to hear your dogs chew them up amidst their trek to the lake.

Oh i missed the lake part. My best guess is a red ear slider.

After looking at some pictures on-line the turtle are either the Common snapping turtle or the Florida Soft Shell Turtle.

Haha my fast eddy was dope. Some stupid aussy kids stole him though like some punks. Fast Eddy had a fat chip out of his shell from being ran over by a lawn mower and he was the fastest tuurtle west of mississippi. He never tucked in his shell for nothing.
Ahhhhh where are you fast eddy:(

DMMK, we have a huge population of snappers down here, i haven't seen to many soft shells the past couple years though. Go try to touch one on the nose you'll find out which it is REALLY fast. LOL

Ahuh Yeah right, I think I will pass on that Sh*t, after looking at the pictures, I am pretty sure that they are snapper eggs in my backyard. I just have to make sure none of the dogs get bit!!!!

I am going to take Rocky's advice and call some folks to come remove these eggs from my yard.

make sure you either know those animal control people are good folks or they might make an issue about your dogs while removing those turtle eggs if your dogs are hollering at them on the chain. doing some good could cause you some bullshiiiiiiet. know what i mean?

Turtles ar the $hit period. But i doubt those eggs will last in your yard. Depending on how much traffic is passing over them its all up in the air. 45-90 days those suckers will be ready to venture back to the lake depending on the weather. hotter the better for incub. period. But on the flip side turtle eggs are PURE protein my monitor used to eat them. But i wouldnt hesitate to give em to my dogs.
