    a protective bloodline?

    zebo HIMSELF was a manbiter

But The APBT is not a protective breed, much less protective bloodlines.

if its protection you want, your better off gettin a .40 cal, this aint the breed for you!

    Try again.
If you don't know your dogs background, that's probably why he may not have the temperment of a APBT? They are telling you to get a different dog because a pitbull is not known for his aggressiveness towards humans and its frowned upon heavily by the APBT community. You're looking for a human aggressive pitbull, while responsible APBT owners are trying to get rid of that trait and have been for hundreds of years. That's why you're gonna get shit for the question.

Ok you would do ok with any of those but the pit bull. Those other breeds have man stopping abilities and will use them. Pit bulls just are not suppose to be HA and are not the best guard dogs.

It all depends on the individual dog's temperament. I have several game bred dogs I have raised from puppies who won't protect me from anyone. They were simply raised to be human friendly & that's what they are. Let an intruder break in & they might bark. But bite or attack? Nope. They weren't bred for that & despite the fact that I did raise them from pups, it's just not in their genetic code. Game bred dogs are genetically wired to be canine gladiators, not personal protectors.

As for Zebo himself, he was VERY protective & *most* of his bites were due to him either protecting himself or protecting his territory. LH himself - Zebo's former owner - said of Zebo that when traveling he always felt safe & even slept in his car b/c he knew that Zebo wouldn't let anyone hurt him & would protect him while he slept. But this is the exception to the rule.

Now does this mean ALL Zebo bred dogs are protective? No. I have seen some that were & some that were not. But one shouldn't be getting an APBT or any breed that falls under the "pit bull" umbrella for a guard dog b/c ...

1: You can be sued for any damages that result from the bite.

2: Even if the bite is legit, it will be reported as a "pit bull attack" & we don't need ANY more of those in the news!

If you are looking for a good guardian/watchdog, get a German Shepherd or Doberman. People are more afraid of them anyway, they were bred to guard & if an intruder gets bitten by a GSD or Dobie, the law is likely to brush it off.

    JMHO.

The Malinois (Belgian Shepherd), Dutch Shepherd, German Shepherd, Dobermann and Rottweiler are some of the best quard dogs. They were bred for it.

i personally would go for the Malinois, beautiful strong agile animal.

I have had personal, hands on experience with the German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois & Doberman Pinscher & I would recommend a German Shepherd if you're going to keep the dog indoors or a Doberman if you're going to keep the dog outdoors.

The Mal is a great man-stopping animal, but they're too high strung & the ones I have seen would bite their handlers as quick as they'd bite an intruder. They need an experienced handler. The GDS & Dobie are bigger & have a tad more health issues than the Mal, but for the general public their temperaments are much more solid & safe than a Mal's & they're just as good as a man-stopper or protection dog. This is of course providing you buy one from a good breeder & not a BYB.

EDIT: I would not advise a Rottweiler either. While they're great protection dogs, a lot of people will steal them as quick as they will steal a pit bull. Most people
Another good protection dog that people often overlook is a Blue Heeler. Those dogs are mean little critters!! Another one is a Chow. The Chow's reputation for biting usually will keep anyone from even stepping in your yard. I used a black Chow for years to guard my yard & it worked out great. The only bad thing is you have to be willing to keep a Chow clipped or brushed out.

I would not advise a Rottweiler either. While they're great protection dogs, a lot of people will steal a Rottie as quick as they will steal a pit bull. Most people are scared of a Shepherd, Dobie, Chow or Blue Heeler & if you have one of those dogs most people will not even step foot in your yard

    Blessings ...

tyson get a dogo argentino they will serve your purpose well, if you train them correctly. if you got the time a japanese tosa would be the best form of personal protection dog.

I think a dog like a Dogo would fall under the "pit bull" umbrella & the Tosa is a fighting dog, not a protection dog. Furthermore, why try to fit a square peg into a round hole? Dogos are bred primarily for hog hunting, not protection & Tosas are bred for dog fighting, not protection. If you want a dog for protection, get a dog BRED for protection.

If you don't want to go with the common sense choices (Shepherd, Doberman, etc.) & are hung up on a molosser, get a Fila. They are a mastiff breed bred for family protection. But Filas can be highly person aggressive & also need an very experienced handler. If you're not a strong & experienced dog owner, don't even consider a Fila.
