Just work the whole body and not any particular part. Any fast twitch exercise should work weight pulling, fetch or flirt pole. I don't see how spring pole would help, but I have been wrong before. Oh yeah swimming may help also.

Find a large pile of sand, sand dunes do great(very loose sand), and let m climb the hill.

Handwalking, flirtpole, swimming (has to be the best IMO, works the entire body), hiking, springpole ect.

Does she fetch? Using a chuckit ball launcher it goes FAR with little effort on your part...

She's prissy ass hell won't work the springpole unless its cowhide been taking her on 2 mile walks she's done to 37lbs from 49 really active on the chain so she srank in like 4 months in the city gonna go grab a moutain bike and start some roadwork maybe 4 days out of the week won't fetch for her life

Do you mean have her run alongside your bike?
Be very careful. Running for too long on pavement can really injure them, not to mention heat. Or other animals if you're near people... Seen a bulldog take someone down off of a bike not too long ago because she spotted a rat dog running around..

do u have any pics? i like sprints, i will run them on the least and i do fetch. If they wont play just throw rocks and let her chase em. the bike will help a lot, just be smart about the area u ride. The dog can work at a better pace, the human wont be slowing them down:D

    She's a pretty lil girl.

I do flirt, hand-walking, and tug (same effect can be achieved with springpole) with my boy and his shoulders look like this:

maybe these things could help you, too? also, a lot of times with the flirt, I will spin it along the ground to get him sprinting, almost similar to running on a cat mill, but much faster and shorter time. i am doing this with him in the pic... You can find that a flirt pole is a very versatile and useful tool if you spend enough time using it and use it in different ways.

How much time do you spend working with the flirt pole?

Also how does anyone get the muscle along the ribs, behind the shoulders, to show better/more defined?

great looking dog, ElJayBee, by the way.

the amount of time i spend working the flirt just depends on the the dog. i work mine until they get super tired and are breathing REAL heavy, but not too hard so that i don't over-do it. and i try to do it when the sun is going down so that it's not too hot. the amount of time can average anywhere from 10-30 minutes just depending on how the dog is feeling and the weather (although this is a guess, i've never actually timed it).

the trick i've found to extending your flirt pole time and keeping your dog from tiring out is to change up between three types of usage. i do the on-the-ground sprints with quick turns for a little bit and mix it up with thru-the-air jumps. when i can tell the dog is beginning to get a tad winded, i let him catch it and play tug with it for a good little bit, that way he can catch his breath a little and still be getting a good workout (similar to springpole). not to mention it keeps his interest going forever.

my boy's rib muscle has been the slowest to develop out of all his muscle groups. but now that summer's in full swing, we are gonna start adding swimming workouts a few times a week if the weather stays nice, im sure that will help. he has some now, but not as much as i would like. i'm interested to see how some other folks respond to your question as well.

and thank you for the compliment...

o, and i do flirt 4-6 days a week. less if i do two sessions in one day or feel the dog needs a rest.
