Woods Snooty Cur???

Sounds like somebody might know some facts

 

no yardboy no facts, but i do trust the people who told me otherwise. so just like everyone else it is heresay but hearing from someone i trust is good enough.

 

True enough, but often things are not stated so specifically in reports. You usually do not see a report that says, "...even though XXXXX looked like he was perfectly able to scratch, he stood the line at xx:xx" It is simply "xxxxxx don't go at xx:xx" or occasionally "xxxxxx can't go at xx:xx". Some may read more into that than others, but the owner may not feel compelled to make a big debate out of the former description. Even if they disagree, they realize that the people that were there know what happened and that is good enough for them. I don't have the original reports, so I don't know what they say exactly, I'm just saying it can be hard to tell the circumstances based on a match report.

one mans cur is another mans game dog.........and vice versa......its why and how the dog quit is whats important imo!! ....what?.......you all want dead game dogs??....then get your shovel and start digging.....by the time you find out the dog is dead game.....its too late.......:p

Loss to Ch Rascal went almost 02:00. Loss to Ox was 01:39 where he scratched 10 times before taking the count. Maybe not deadgame, but not what I'd call a cur either. If he would have been matched against lesser quality dogs he'd most likely be a Ch 4xW. Would you breed to him then?

That is another thing to consider - every long hard one takes something out of the dog - you can't really hope to get as much out of him in #4 as #1 if #s 2 and 3 have been rough. I realize there are some who have hung in there for 4(or more) long hard ones in a row, but those are exceptions. As the saying goes, you can only go to the well so many times, and that can vary depending on how hard the trips have been...

 

Regardless of how people want to view it in both QUITS Snooty made no attempt to move when he was counted. Whether Snooty QUIT in 10 minutes or 2 hours he stood on all fours and it's all detailed in the Journal!

 

Sorry, but I gotta call bullsh**. If snooty was a cur as some are saying, (which I'm not) then plenty of people bred to him and got GAME DOGS!!!!! So according to some of these opinions on here either he wasn't a cur OR you can still breed to a quitter and get winners.

Now here's what I think. Curs can produce game dogs but shouldn't be bred or fed. Every dog will quit at some point unless it's dead game which is what the aim is for but a dead game dog can't be bred once it's proved dead. And most importantly, it ain't black and white. Any dog who will go past the hour mark is worth a bet and I don't consider it a cur, just a quitter.

 

who really cares? if he quit, he quit. so he went on to be a better producer than box dog. other than the act of "quitting" what is the difference in a 10 minute quitter and a 2 hour quitter?

 

if every dog that ever quit.....for whatever reason....was either put to sleep etc......or still never bred from....there would be less game dogs in this world tday....its how and why a dog quits is very important.....which i suppose comes down to a good eye...

i suppose most of you wont like it when i say maybe the reason they took on rascal was he to was a cur but just better than snooty, im sorry but no excuses when they stop unless its down to conditioning thats it crazyhorse your spot on

so....it sounds like you should/would only ever breed to retired/only winning dogs??...if you aint guna breed to dogs that quit then that leaves "picked up" dogs (who are still losers)or dead game dogs.....but....you cant breed to a dead game dog.....as its dead....and iif you have bred to a dead game dog its obviously been done before the dog proved so......its like roundabouts and circles.....damned if you do....damned if you dont...its been said before.....fuck knows where..i probably read it in cosmopolitan or vogue or sum such publication...lol.....but it takes an experienced eye to sort the shit from the good.....no matter what the result!!....just my opinion...
