Garner's Santos..frozen sperm offa spike..?

yeah i realize i might be stirring a lil controversy askin this question but out of curiosity, and given my growing interest in the spike dog would you say santos was actually off of spike? is there any controversy considering santos and other dogs apparently bred off of spike through frozen sperm? would you trust em or is it dodgy territory?

 

Every year that semen is stored it loses a percentage of its genetic make-up. Different scientists will give you a different percentage but it's decided somewhere between 3-8%. How long has Spikes sperm been frozen? Semen collection and storage was developed to A.I dogs that were in different parts of the country and world, to save the stress of traveling and or shipping the dogs. Not to breed dogs that have been dead for 10-15 years. T.G is a business man and does whats good for bussiness.

I have some pups off Sluggo (Santos littermate) i have them ADBA registered, at first the ADBA wanted the DNA profile of Spike since its their policy to register dogs off frozen semen, but since Tom Garner doesnt provide DNA he sent other documents and proofs this breeding happened. The ADBA accepted them.

As far as i know, the collection was made in 1989 and the bitch (Miss Mouth) was shipped to the veterinarian clinic in Houston, i think in 2006, breed and sent back.

Well, you can believe what you want. I wont give details on the proofs, but that breeding was done by veterinarians not the man himself. So i guess its pretty easy to know if its fake or it really happened.

 

It loses some of its genetic make up? What your saying is that the DNA in the semen is evaporating? It's potency maybe but the DNA properties never leave, the only thing you have to worry about with frozen semen is making sure it is handle correctly and keeping the semen alive. You never lose any genes in the process.

 

Quick question and a bit off topic. Will the ADBA allow registry now with dogs down from Frisco? I know I heard they didn't a while ago(Few years back) that they didn't but I have seen alot lately that people are dual-registering their dogs from Garner with Frisco in the ped

 

Anyone interested I have frozen semen from Dibo, Bolio, Eli, and an overstock of Nigerino just let me know what you are looking for. Also have some from many others. This is why my wife wants her own handle by the way.

No, Im not saying the DNA evaporates. I'm saying a percentage of the genetic make-up is lost. Do the research, it's science. There is a lot more to it than handling and storage. Do you actually believe that a dog born off frozen semen stored over twenty years will have the same exact genetic make up as if that dog was bred directly from that dog today? It's simple science and simply why people refuse to give DNA samples.

Caos, first use some commas so that I can understand what you write. And second some would say I'm a great dogman, I'm honest and take great care of my dogs! On the other hand I might not be a dogman at all seeing that I don't test dogs. It's all about what you concider a dogman. I have nothing against Tom I spoke to him three days ago about breeding my best bitch to Lil Frank. Oh, and yes I have a few GREAT producers as well, I also give my damn dogs away and don't make a dime on them, ask anyone on here! One more thing, I would have a yard FULL of great producers if I made 18 breedings a year like some people.

 

Semen doesn't lose a percentage of genetic make-up. It loses a percentage of motility, which would result in a smaller litter size...but in most cases it will still have a %70 motility rate.
