I got a BP x Dominas Negra pup from TG in March last year. She was 14 months already and looking good. Saturday night she ate well, was running around full of energy. My son came home around midnight and there she was still alive. When I got up Sunday morning she did not come running when I opened the house. I checked around the yard and there she was dead, men it was really devastating. I have no clue as to what happened. Miss my gyp.

Sorry for ur lose. It probably was heat stroke, frozen to death, depending on the climate or was poisoned by someone. She could have eaten a animal that was poisoned. Any other cause and u probably would have week signs of it coming. I have delt with people who swear there dogs are in good health and in my eyes they r on deaths door. Not saying that is the case with u, but sometimes people amaze me. Pay to have an autopsy , so Atleast u find out what the cause was.

Sounds like blout. Only takes about 30min. To kill a dog.

  9. Wouldn't the stomach cavity be distended if this happened? Blout is the twisting of the intestines is it not?

I believe bloat and torsion are two possibilities but also two different things.

I stand corrected. Thank you Lakewood..

I had one incident like this but vet labeled it as torsion and it was an old dog.

I am sorry this happened, my condolences.

  13. As you can see, a lot of these afflictions don't apply to the dogs we like. My friend Breeds Boxers and he recently had one come down with bloat. He caught it quickly and she is fine. He did pay almost 5 k for the surgery though.

When I first read this, I was thinking poison. Maybe antifreeze. I have seen this happen before and the dog I'm thinking of died of a brain anyurism.(SP).

  14. Had one go on me last week! So I now just how u feel and feel bad for u and ur fam!! Gotta watch them lie toddler's my son left him with his chew toy over night one week later and a X-ray showed that he had eat part of the toy and it became unpassable and they wanted 4,000$ for surgery!!! It's best that u have ur vet do a run thro on him to rule out everything! And learn from it!!! It was a hard lesson learned for me son having to put a top prospect down !!!!

I understand what u mean ChDyno, no heat stroke our temp right not at night is around 62 deg Faren. She was perfectly healthy, good food, dewormed monthly. Unfortunately here in Belize well in my area you cannot get a vet on Sunday for an autopsy.

I was thinking poison as well, dont know if toads can poison a dog, the toads we have here I do not believe are poisonous. She could not leave a toad alone, had killed several before. I found a dead one that same morning so I am contemplating that it could have been that.

All toads have "poison" it just depends how strong it is. But the large bumps on the back of the head behind the eyes are the main glands, if you touch them or poke them they will secreet a milky liquid. I know my dog won't leave the ones we got up here alone, but I make sure if I see them to get them away because they will at least make the dog sick. If it ingested a toad I would think the mouth would have foam or extra saliva, it probably didn't taste too good.

Speculation is kinda pointless. That really sucks, I would get an autopsy done so you can prevent whatever happened in the future. Also maybe educate of few others. Its always harder when you don't see it coming, RIP and sorry for your lose.
