A few from today, stupid bastard kids ruined our walk, so we had to go home and wait an hour until they all left. Decided it would be to dark on my way back home by myself for me to do out 6 1/2 miles, so I grabbed the 50' rope and went to the park and made him run, did a lot of fetch, tug and chasing me and visa versa

Here is two of him standing, looks very AmBully/Amstaff in these huh

He looks pretty lanky, but he isnt all that bad :p Thank you, I just cleaned it with salt water and then left it open to the air, no running outside, no anything for over a month until it healed up and closed all the way, then slowly started walking him until it got toughened back up and now he is fine

he's a tall dog . but i don't think he's 60 lbs . i could be wrong . but he does'nt look 60 in the pic . but you do have him looking good . rememeber try to feed everyday at the same time . and this should be after the workout 30 minutes is good . you just need to cool him down and the breathing be normal then feed . and most of the time it's wet grass that cuts the feet more . the rough gravel is good with my dogs and the rocks . if you get some skin off the foot . then put some vasoline on it . give 0-1 days rest . the vasoline somehow toughens the pad . and you can walk your dog on the cut . it's just a small piece missing . they are tough dogs .

i prefer a rangy type dog.. looking good man!
try feeding raw along with your work and he'll lean up real nice.

Yea, well I am guessing he was only weighed once when he was at the vet after being jumped on by a loose dog, he was 49lbs at 6months or so.. and he has grown a lot since then.
He might not be, but I think he was close or past that before I started working him out. He has lost a lot of the fat on his ribs and waist area.
Thank ya :) I am trying!
I am cutting his food back to keep him from shitting during our long walks, so far so good. One feeding is in the AM bout 9 or so, then we do light walking and stuff in the house, tug/fetch/etc and then later in the day around 4-4:30 we head out to do running at the park, come back around 6:30-7 and then cool down for a few minutes, probably around 45minutes because its kind of hot already in PHX. Then he gets his meal for the night, is that good? I noticed since cutting food and upping exercise he has gained a lot more muscle, can see some ribs and a little backbone but his thighs are getting huge and I am trying to get him front legs a little leaner looking and more defined, still has a little fat I think because his muscles dont "pop" but look kind of "flat" to me, heard that was from having some fat still..?

About the wet grass, we dont have to much wet grass in Phoenix lol and it only gets watered at nights so it doesnt go to waste cuz of the sun. He cut his pad bad on the metal track of the sliding door, but he had kind of soft pads because he was still under 1 and I wasnt working him hard. Now his pads are tough and very scratchy to the skin. He does get red some days if I push him harder but that is usually gone by morning, no redness, puffyness or tenderness so he should be fine. The gravel and road walking has done wonders toughening the pads. He is gonna need it when its 110 outside.
I have some, dont know why but it does heal the skin super fast. Great for people too lol
Yea I havnt had any small cuts or anything on his pads since we started this, I took it really slow working up to what I am doing now :)

Picture from today, if he wasnt blue he would look like a bulldog lol

Thank you :) But I am not a man lol

I do, he gets 50/50 right now due to freezer space, when I first started doing raw with him he did drop a lot of the waist weight, now that I upped exercise and running and then cut kibble feeding and cut the raw done a tad he is really looking better, every day he looks better to me but I may be biased

Your pup is on a good start and I'm sure if you keep up the work, he'll be muscular. How's he bred if you don't me asking? No disrespect but is he a mix? You don't see that many blue dogs dogs looking like that, keep up the good work.

in this latest picture his musculature is really coming around. i may have been a lil hasty in dogging his appearance. he's looking better.

I hope, not bulky though I hate that, I want the nice lean muscle, just an all around fit ready to work dog.
Not sure, best guess is some kind of Amstaff/AmBully mix, but his Dam was a rescue and we only have one picture of the supposed Sire.. pretty much just a generic blue mutt.
Its possible, mixed with what I dont know. He looks a lot like some Amstaff I have seen..
Thank you :) I try and keep him looking like a blue dog should, I think I got lucky though because he isnt the typical blue mutt you see.

Oh my God did you just compliment my weak blue dog? ;) thank you, he is getting better every day with the work I am doing with him. Better get your dogs in shape he might give you a run for your money when he is closer to being done ;)

you should never work your dog with a full stomach... best to work the dog once he is empty! i personally feed once at night after all is said and done. get some dvd's on how to shape a dog.. dogman 2000 is a great start! nice to see your dog getting all that attention!

  16. pookie!

    pookie! Top Dog

I dont think I am working him on a full stomach, he only works at around and after 4 in the afternoon.. He gets a small breakfast and thats earlyish so his belly is far from full, might switch him to getting raw in the a.m. so its gone all the way by workout time that afternoon??

I am cutting down on his food, but right now I dont see a need to feed him once a day, it just seems like to much food all at once and with me doing 50/50 raw/kibble I dont want to mix the raw and kibble and cause stomach upset.
About the dvds I would love to but I dont have the scratch to get anything, might download some, I really wanted the dogman 2000 though!
Thank ya I really do appreciate all your input, its really helping me mold the way I do stuff so I can work him out properly :) He really digs all the attention, been sick the last few days and not up to running him and he has been pushing my buttons like mad bouncing off the walls lol

pookie , to get a working type dog with a working type body . you only feed 1 time a day . i've done this for 35 years . the dogs is not empty if you feed him 2 times aday . i don't care who tells you to feed 2 times a day . but they're worng . a dog will crap 3-4 times aday if you watch him . and that's only meat and all kinds of good food . if they don't . then they're not emptying out before they eat again . that's just how it works .
