I am looking for a dog collar that won't cause may dog to cough up a lung when she goes for a walk. Right now she has a 1.25" wide leather collar and it works okay but I am looking for something the has a little stretch in it and won't effect her too much when she pulls.
2" wide might be too wide for my little dog and I have a harness, need advice on a collar.

If you have a harness why not use it?

When I walk my dog I use the harness, started running her and the harness seems to get in the way when she is running hard. Like to run her with the collar but when I she sees a cat or other animals, she tries to go after them and pulls hard.

Go to www.bulldogsupplyco.com, they have the best padded collars that I've used. Broken many chains and snaps, but never the collar. Good luck TSK

I didn't even think about the leash. I like the idea of a bungee leash, I am going to order one today.
    thanks for the link!

I got collars from Both Stillwater and Bulldog Company. You can't go wrong with either one, but what kind of harness do you have? I have a custom fitted walking harness and my dog has pulled me on my bike for miles and it has never gotten in the way.. I prefer a harness since it lets the dog work out the muscles..

Prong Collars work you pop that lead and the dog will stop he may freak out the first few times when he goes to pull but the pinch from the prongs will get the dogs attention he will eventually get the message loud and clear. I use them because I have one who wants to go in the water and swim after the ducks ... You have to make sure you fit the prong collar above the dogs regular collar it needs to be fitted and not loose if it's loose you need to remove links. Prong collars should never be left on and only used for training they are a great tool when used properly.

I have a really good harness, the only issue is that I was running her with the harness and I noticed that she was getting a bald spot right under her arm where the harness would rub.

When it comes to trying to get at an animal that she wants to tear up, She gets so hyped up that pain is nothing to her. I know that it would work when she is not distracted. I have seen her paws ripped up and bleeding from trying to get to cats and it doesn't bother her much. Only when at rest, that's when she would lick her wounds.
I really don't mind the drive, I use her for vamint control.

I am not interested in using a prong collar to run my dog.

Here is the harness that I use to walk her, it works great and is super strong.

Here are the marks from running her, no big deal. I noticed that she runs faster with a collar though.

That's the problem man, you are using a fancy show leather harness for exercise. You gotta use one of these :

It is super paded and it doesn't hurt the dog at all. It is custom fit so it fits the dog perfectly.

Do you not have a hardware store near you? They sell bungee chord and all hardware to make leads. I just made one a few weeks ago from 1/2" nylon round rope. Took me longer to get the stuff at the store then to make. We was making these back in the 90's. (Nylon Rope Leads) Great for field or woods. I make them 12' long and tie knots every foot or so for a handle. Coil up the rest when close to people or animals. :)

Going to make me a bungee lead this weekend. Then take 70lb dog for walk. That will remove some SHOCK on my body when he decides to change directions. I got him to walk beside me, but honestly while nice in town on sidewalks, I prefer a pulling bulldog. Seems the way a bulldog should be walked. Better exercise for both.

Also pinch collars, LIFE SAVER for the smaller framed person walking strong dogs. Get one, train dog, then wife and older kids can walk them with you with no worries of being dragged into the street. LOL I gotta get mine back from a friend. As well my 50' training lead for teaching a dog to come. Freaking people are forgetful or thieves....
