Sores on tail

I farmed my old brood bitch out and when she came back she had alot of problems one being sores on her wrists and tail, I can deal with the wrists but the tail is a mess, does anyone have any experience with treating a tail in this condition, http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/8519/025zzo.jpg

I have already given her a shot of Combiotic to stave off infection so im looking for a salve or home remedy to increase healing (that wont get her sick if she licks it). The sores are all seeping fluids and short of taping her tail to her leg they rupture when she wags into anything in her path.

I have heard of salt pack recipes before to dry it out etc... any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

I had a dog with happy tail ( what you got going on with that tail isn't happy tail) looks like the dog was chewing on it over a period of time. I used blue coat on my mutts tail and it healed up pretty good. The vet wanted to amputate it, glad I didn't listen to him.

Im not sure if she was Chewing it or if she was living in a crate in her own filth and it started rotting as she was on another yard for 2 months, poor thing came back 9lbs underweight missing 4 teeth and covered in scabs and sores. Thanks for the response.

I never got why people get an animal and not give it a decent life. Why bother taking in an animal if they know damn well they aren't going to care for it properly... shame, anyways, good luck with the dog, I'm sure you'll bring it back around. Id be pissed if someone gave me one my dogs back in that condition.

Bro that's exactly what it sounds like, living in her own feces. Revival animal health has a great website and magazine you can order things from to heal her up. Never had one that bad but a friend rescued one from similar conditions and we nursed him back with a good cleaning and bacitracyn and medical wraps. It's like a gause tape, but she's a little worse. Good luck

Nu Stock..what I would use.Could have been different feed to that caused it..Nu Stock works good u only use it every 3 days..Just wash it off real good after 3 days and put more on it.Let it dry out first. That stuff works man.

Skin issues r nasty to deal with you have to extremely persistant to heal them.I wouldnt doubt if it was the feed since u said she loss weight..Feed could have been making her sick and she would only eat enough to survive.

From what I gather they were only eating what the guy was shooting, budgies and crows, squirrels etc... I made sure he had the money but I think he was spending it on Crack or something...

Im glad shes a hard headed bitch david, I think the fella who had her on his yard wasn't used to a dog of her caliber, she will run 24/7 and eat 3 times the recomended amount which is what I told him. Ive been feeding the shit out of her 4 times a day and walking her alot and she works every step like she was bred to do. Thats the beauty of a well bred dog even when the chips are down they say fuck it and work.

Im sure he's learning about this line hands on now, I sent 3 and only 2 were returned so he has a 2 year old prospect off of a very good male and the bitch above.

polysporin i've seen work but not to the extent this dog is, bacitracin is already in polysporin but you can try it if the polysporin isnt found. zinc oxide ointment if you can find is awesome for scars, cocoa butter with sooth the skin up too. no contradiction on any of this medications just use accordingly. good luck man i cant believe people do shit like this to these animals

Thanks 12guage Ive been using polysporin and was considering using Zinc oxide as well as I have it here, as far as scars go I found a new product that is unbelieveable but you can't use it on broken skin, its called Purcellin oil.

I guess this is what I get for listening to someone who talked like a dogman but acted like a little thief bitch not worthy of picking up shit on my yard.

use very little of that bio oil, cocoa butter is better in my opinion but if it was me i try everything man, can stand a dog looking like that for no reason, good luck once again NGK

should add that it'll take some time to heal for sure

Yeah I second this ... I got a dog who had sores all over her tail and was missing most of her hair on the tail and butt. I used cephalexin for 21 days, antibacterial medicated shampoo Pyoben every 3 days, bag balm, and nu-stock. It took a few months for her hair to grow completely back and for the infection to clear up but it did.
