I like to work out in the heat! If you work in the heat just watch the dog and you will be fine. Keep some water with you. They give you signs of trouble. If money is on the line, the only thing that will stop me is ice and loooow temps. I don't do extreme cold well. If dog is in keep, it's inside anyway.

I was always taught to work em in the heat, if they're used to working in the heat, when it's showtime they should be able to dance all night

Not all dogs were made for hot weather ,some do better in colder climates .

Yep,but if you get used to doing something in the heat when it's cooler you can do it at an even faster pace. Some just don't do good in the heat as you said though

It's a pain in the ass trying to work a dog when it's too hot. They just start to cook before you can get a lot of work in. Go early in the am or when the sun goes down like someone else said.

Some dogmen dont play at all in the summer months at all. Work them in the heat just watch them more closely. If you are working in sets allow the dog to get some water and also hose the dog down. You may also have to adjust and lengthen your breaks between sets to allow the dog a little more time before the next set.

Personally I don't do much with my dogs in the intense heat but if you insist I would recommend using electrolyte replenishment drinks specifically designed for performance dogs.

I'm not saying do your whole routine everyday during the heat of the day but I usually do a little something during that time. Except maybe late August when I can't take it

If you and the dog can take it, go for it. Time doesn't always allow for early or late work. You gotta do what you gotta do. If I got a dog that can take the heat, we out there. Ppl are like dogs too, some just don't like the heat. Prepare and y'all are fine. Black dogs and all lol. Just don't throw em back on the chain! I'd only work a keep in 90+, which is what I call heat. Then the dog goes in the house for a rub down before water and rest. Dogs only come in my house as pups, EXTREME cold, or a keep

It depends on the dog really..If you have a dog with not the best wind , like naus said it ain't gone do you no good to burn him up to fast because basically you looking to stretch and expand his lungs..Now if you got a good winded dog which works best in hot conditions like Alabama , go for it..just depends on the dog.

Hot pavement and concrete can be an issue.
Once or twice a week drive to the country.
Get a mill and work them indoors.

I was taught to work my dogs the same time the pull is. No matter what the weather is.

It is a good idea it at all possible, but it is not the end all.

It is not so much the work at the same time as much as it the feeding in relation to the show. The dog has to be fed in relation to work.

If a person is working a dog in the AM and the show is in the PM or vice versa, the off-set is to count backwards in increments of 30 hours from the show. This will allow the dog to be empty at show time.

I don't recommend working your dog in the heat. How long they can dance has to do with the efficiency their body is functioning. Working out in the heat just means that u probably want get as good as a workout in jmo
