Cleaning your kennels?

just curious what you all are using as disinfectant to clean your kennels? I few months ago I went from a chain setup to a kennel run. I'm big on husbandry and just want to eliminate some of the odours coming from the kennel.
I used patio stones for my flooring and pea gravel under and around the edges of the kennel.

    Thanks in advance

Even though I know there's a lot more that people use that I just haven't yet but I just use good ol bleach. I don't have many kennels and it's dirt ground so that's a little different in itself. Good thread as there hasn't been one lately. I know there's stuff listed in some of the books but I have no experience with them yet so I'll just stick to what I do know. What are you using now, Natureboy?

Lime helps with odors some but not disinfecting. I use lime. There was also some stuff I was buying back in the city called something like 'sweet ptz' or something like that. Helped with the urine smell.

I use bleach in kennels....around chain spots I usually throw some cedar or pine shavings to keep it smelling nice

    From the site:
    KennelSol® Broad Spectrum Germicidal Cleaner
KennelSol® is a broad spectrum germicidal cleaner, deodorizer and disinfectant formulated for animal care facilities. The concentrated formula knocks out pathogens in one easy labor saving step. This very popular quaternary disinfectant is EPA registered and kills a broad spectrum of pathogens, including many important to the animal care industry. Effective against viruses (including Canine Parvovirus), bacteria, and fungi.

KennelSol retains its efficacy even in hard water. KennelSol’s pH neutrality at a dilution of 2 oz. per gallon of water (8 oz per gallon for canine parvovirus) provides for the highest level of safety for animals and humans with no rinsing necessary. It is non-corrosive and non-staining to surfaces and clothing if spilled. An abundant level of detergent and odor control makes it an extraordinary cleaner while its wintergreen fragrance leaves behind a “fresh and clean” scent.

The "Ideal Disinfectant Choice" for your animal care facility sanitation needs, targeting pathogens of concern important to the animal care industry. To read about Quats & Parvo click here. Available in multiple sizes from pints up to 55 gallon drums.

I've been rinsing the kennel out with h2o and using bleach every other week. I personally hate the smell of bleach. Especially using it to clean such a big area. I dilute it but the smell still bothers me.

I use the powder lime. Sprinkle it over the chain spot. Wet it down good. Once it's dry put dog back on the spot.

You can use almost any type of disinfectant to disinfect kennels including something as simple as fricken soap LOL
    Hospitals and Veterinarians use Chlorohexidine.

IMO the fly bottle traps are the best way in controlling the fly populations as one bottle can catch hundreds or even thousands of flys depending on the size of your bottles, so the more bottle traps you put out the more you can catch and control......chemicals mostly deter flies but do almost nothing to control there populations.

We use chlorohexidine for a surgical scrub prep. Quat256 for disinfecting surface areas. Doubt they sell it commercially, not sure but it sure smells good lol.

I've worked for 5 hospitals over the years and none have used Cxd for disinfection of surfaces. More so used to prepping a surgical site. About all its used for other than our hand wash soap.

I just put bleach and hot water in a pump sprayer and go to town on everything in the kennel including the kennel itself. I don't feel I should have to say this but you never know these days, take the dog out first and let it dry before returning them. Lol.

Chlorohexidine is sold commercially world wide for many uses including topical wound/skin treatments including oral rinses as well as disinfectant for surfaces....The smell depends on the brand as some brands use scents and some dont as not all of them smell the same or are the same color as some are clear, red, blue and green with blue being the most common. There are also different concentrations of it also.

I meant the quat256 not the Chlorihexidine. That shit stinks. Lol.
The stuff hospitals use I should say. I've never smelled the commercial version
