There may be a few APBT that are not animal aggressive but they are very few and far between. As a hole they are animal aggressive. For the most part most would try there luck with any animal except a human.

Would you mind reading a post completely please...I did'nt say that game dogs aren't animal aggressive...I said I have seen a lot that aren't and were very good dogs. Aggression is not a sign of gameness.
Maybe your dogs come out of the corner because they are aggressive...all I know is, they KEEP COMING out of the corner because they are game.
Some people chose to work a dog up using different things to stimulate their drive..some used cats, coons, etc. Get the dog excited and they will chase a cat, hell... mine will chase a bleach bottle filled with rocks, or a feather on a flirt pole...because someone wants them to..not strange at all
I said that so-called Pit Bulls are actually American Pit Bull Terriers that have been bred for show and not the box...majority of APBT's are..lol...Where did I say that Staffs were the same breed as APBT's?? I said Staffs were still showing and under the same name..American Staffordshire Terriers?
Match reports??? Like I said, if you were reading... cuz they can't get competition for them...sooo, I'm talking about guys that con some rookie into thinking his little 'game' dog can slam the sloppy amstaff/mastiff
Thanks, I appreciate you trying to inform me of what a "real" bulldog is...I just don't have the time to listen, got dogs to walk

I think we got off on the wrong foot. And I think we are both saying similar things. I agree gameness is to continue when its easier to quite. Aggression is to attack without being provoked. I consider apbt that can not used as pit dogs staffs for the most part. And I also agree that a 40lb pit bulldog has know business to be matched into a 100lb dog of any type actually I despise seeing fools matching good little dogs into huge monsters like kangles/mastiffs pure stupidity. I do think that animal aggression is a very strong trait in the breed from the dogs I have been involved with. Anyhow if I offended you in anyway I apologize it was not intended and I see that you have a good knowledge of the dogs yourself.

It's all good my friend, same thought, different ways of explaining...we're all in this together, but I sometimes focus on little things and jump on...I don't have the patience I used to have.
I agree with you about aggression, seen it lots and when I was younger didn't mind it, except when walking and they would start to screaming for the whole neighborhood...lol Through the years, I began to see traits that

I personally don't know why anybody would want a dog that is so dog aggressive it is uncontrollable i have a female pitbull terrier and she loves to play with other dogs but when told to attack she will attack when told to release you will release but that's with people or dogs or cats or whatever I tell it to I have never tell my doctor that I'm a dog and never would never have told her to take a person and hope I never have to but if I have to I will

There's a big difference in dogs bred just to be bred and dogs bred for purpose. Most dogs bred for purpose aren't going to release once engaged unless they want a better spot. Most bred for purpose will be dog aggressive. Those who don't wish to own a dog aggressive dog shouldn't own this breed as more of them will be than not.

I don't know what kind of pit bulldog you have but the only way your going to get them to let go is with a break stick.

I know this is an older thread but... Box Bulldog, what about GR CH Mayday or Tant's Cody? They weren't small dogs... I'm not saying I disagree with you about the size of a pit bulldog, because I agree with you, I was just giving examples of larger dogs.

There may be the odd large dog but they are so few and far between they would be almost impossible to find another dog to match into. Not sure what weights Mayday or Tants Cody were matched at but I would be surprised if they were matched at much more than 60lbs. A well conditioned 60lb male is a HUGE dog by my standards. But you are correct there are a very few that are slightly over 60lbs but there are also a very few kids that are almost 7' at 12 years of age that doesn't mean they should be.

GR CH Mayday was matched anywhere from 58-65... When GR CH Mayday and Cody were hooked it was at 65 but Mayday couldn't make weight so had to forfeit. In the end when the did finally hook up it was at catch weight and Cody was 72.
I have never owned one that big myself and couldn't imagine owning one that big. Mine range from 32-50. 50 being heavy chain weight.

Thanks for the info. 72 lbs is bigger than anything I have seen. I like 30-35lb conditioned dogs.

This is the answer. The only people who call the APBTs "Bulldogs" (so far as I know) are dogmen or have some sort of an association to the game.

When a non dogman uses the word Bulldog, I never assume they're talking about our breed.

What you have, is what most of us here would consider a pitbull mix.

Pure APBT's simply are not genetically coded to disengage from combat on command. I dont care how smart of well trained the dog is. You cant train an APBT to stop fighting, anymore than you could train a racing greyhound to not dash after a rabbit. It's just not in their nature.

That said, im sure you have a great dog, and that's cool.

Neat looking dog. Looks like are very hard mouthed strong dog. This dog in the old pic has similar features thick build loose lips dogs such as these must have lots of the original bull dogs off England flowing in the veins and less of the terrier would be my guess.

  19. "I strongly disagree. A good hound is truly game from the sound of your voice/to the touch of your hand. I'd have to say; One whom can focus on commands during battle, will be the smarter "gamer" hound.
