We all have recently learned zebo is the Jesus of bulldogs. This stuck my interest in what junk dog that zebo would lick that got yall into the dogs.

Mine was butkus(and the West Penn dogs). Again he was no zebo but a ok dog that produces one or 2 other good dogs.

I was kidding around. We know who got ole boy interested in dogs, I figured we could turn it into a good thread about what dogs got us into them. Mine was buck through butkus with no mayday outs. That of course pushed me to Tommy and his stuff. Unfortunately a certain someome had him robbed and shot before I got into dogs. Luckily I happen to know someone who bred to him(their dog is on that list) and have gotten a ton of first hand info on butkus and Tommy(who was friends with my friend).

Who got you into these mutts?

Born a dog lover...in my teens a neighbor had a pit bull mix pup. He looked like Petey. Anyhow he kept getting in my yard, I'd toss him over the fence and he'd come right back.

The neighbor saw this exchange one day and said, hey that's not my pup. My first pit bull...lol

A year or so later they had the ADBA nationals in my town and I attended. Started weight pulling and eventually discovered what a real Bulldog was.

So I got myself into them but I've met some really good dog folks, and even more turds. I wouldn't own any other breed though.

Area I live in seems like most people had them. Not all were professional type and most were not and just had them for what ever reason.

I was about 10 or so. My best friend's dad was into the dogs. He had a son of Red Boy. and right beside him was a Carver-Eli bred male. Those two dogs would walk to the opposite ends of the chains, look back for eye contact and then go at each other full bore til the chain stopped them dead in their tracks.

Talk about inspecting chains and hardware.

The speed, the muscle mass, the ill will....Been hooked ever since.

We tried to breed to Lefty in his last days.

We went on one of those weekend trips and saw three of his offspring and was well impressed. I decided to give it whirl.

Lefty had a hard life, harder than most endure. We got there when he had shot his last wad already. We missed and he died shortly thereafter.

    A good family of dogs.

  10. I would like to share a unusual one.sorry for butting in on the tread you started Holocaust.I no you hate me.but I thought we could let bygones be bygones.Evan though my wrightings are pretty rubbish.I don't want to sound like the zebo nutter lol.:)any ways when I was a kid.I grew up in this street.and there was some fella who kept the old type staff, and some racing pigeons.his pigeons were pretty great if I can remember rightly.and so we're his staffs.(I thought).now when I look back, this fella never had a fucking clue about dogs.he new how to sell them though.in the mid 1990s he would get about £300-£400 on them.to anyone who had the money.they were they old Irish Staff.that's all he used to say for his sales pitch.I used to think they were awesome.I was about 9-10 years old.when I was 13 years old I got a 2 year old male of him.all white with a black patch over its eye called "Bullseye".he told me it's mum was a" pitbull".and he gave me a book(I will never forget).Strattons, the world of the American Pitbull Terrier.he showed me it's mum.a fighting reject as he called it from Ireland.bought it cheap he said winking at me.and mixing them in with his staffs.more powerful looking he said.and people like powerful looking ones.always winking at me.this man could sell you anything!anyway when I seen its mum I was amazed.totally captivated.it was only half Pitbull but it looked like a full one.it was red red nose in color, with a bit of white.he said it's dad was a Reids x Patrick.I did'ent have a fucking clue what he was on about.neither did he!but around that time.a few older kids liked to roll dogs.they were blue staffs.I still see similar dogs in some towens and city's to this day.and I don't no what the fuck they are?my dog "Bullseye" whooped them all.I did not no what the fuck I was doing, but noticed the dog like it when I spoke to him.this, mixed with what I had read in the Stratton book, made me think I no shit. Then a friend shows up with a gyp about the same age.about 2 pounds lighter then "Bullseye"but a full pitbull.(on the bottom she was heavy Patrick with some snooty.and on the top she was Skateboard crossed with something?)anyways we let them go.and my hero "Bullseye"quits cold after about 6-7minutes.he was no we're near death.he screamed is head of and tried to get away.but what blew my mind was the gyp.as I've said "Bullseye"was no we're near death.and when I look back the gyp was no world beater either.but I'd never seen a pure a.p.b.t.before then.and it blew my mind.I just new of seeing that, that they were bread purely for it.as this gyp had never took hold of nothing before she met "Bullseye"!.now "Bullseye"after this would still trash any dog(not Pitbull lol).which I thought was weird.and I still kept messing round with him.but then the fella who give me him court wind of my "deeds"with him,and took him of me.and then"Bullseye",my childhood dog,my learning tool,my cur,one quarter pitbull, three quarter old staffbull was gone.and all that was left in my head was to get one like the gyp what kicked his arse!!totally brainwashed after that.on a "mission".to get one of these great dogs.sorry for the the ramble, but I don't think you can describe these things in a few words..all this happend when I was younger then 16.I am in my early 30s now.we all have to learn someway!!.Evan if it's the hard way.it's very hard to learn about that stuff in this part of the world, and there's not a Bulldog on every corner.and I feel sorry for anybody in this part of the world who is brave enough to try and learn.but I sulute them!.anyways I just thought I'd post this because some folk ain't raised in a yard full of Bulldogs.dam!.I wished I was!.I no my story's boaring.perhaps someone who was raised on a hard full of Bulldogs could share their story?it would be a lot more interesting then me rambling on!!.lol.still better then all that other zebo stuff what's been going on the other posts!.lol.l.m.a.o.!!:)):)):))...............

In all seriousness, no one dog got me into the dogs. I had always loved the look of the breed. Even as a younger child. Never knew anyone who owned them and my parents would never let me own one as it was in the 80s and that was the start of the breed bashing.. I graduated high school and moved to Pittsburgh where I meet a guy, David Castle from Heavily Armed Kennels. I bought a pup from him and i been hooked ever since.

Aswell my inspiring in these dogs were the ppl surounding me with these dogs! My family, aswell Finkle Winkle aka FWK inspired me alot due to the dogs he had, his results, his way of person he was in dogs (non nonses person) and aswell he wasnt a peddler or fairytale teller in the breed.. Aswell Arie vd Wardt that was a good friend of my aunt inspired me with all his war stories :) may he rest in peace!!! And aswell my biggest best friend in these dogs Junkyard kennels !!!
