You hit it on the head. They keep score for a reason.

The show is not the place to find gameness. That should have been a 'known' before you leave home.

    The show is about winning.

If a dog cruises thru schooling and outclasses the rest you have two choices. You can take the ride or you can beat the shit out of him to see if he is game.

Lots of guys will take the ride and that is when a guy is betting on himself and what he sees, as much as he is the dog.

In the end it is a team sport.

None of them are perfect. So you grade them and roll on.

100 percent Slim. Show no place for Test of Game. But Maneater doesn't matter score or Ace or Game for me. Score might be good today but Maneater will end whole Game. I dont want to mention lines but it was hammer drop in England when little girl was mauled. B.S.L. Popping up every where. If the dog bite people they will be uproar if they attack another animal i bet you Big fine most. No B S L. That's just me this topic goes all the way back to Colby Pat Patrick Yada yada

Maybe I have been lucky. I have had one that put mouth on me.

Like everything there are degrees. I have read others say that their bull dogs will bite someone who doe snot belong in their chain spot. I have never owned one, but I a m sure they are out there.

I have had that would turn and bite, not to actually bite, but it is the only way they know to say, "let me go, I got some shite to do 16ft from here".

I have seen a couple that were not the friendliest on and off the chain as on and off the chain means their is work to be done.

Just like everything else in these dogs it is all about what one wants to deal with, tolerate or own.

    To each his own.

I have had a few that were so geeked up they look at any other animal, object, person or thing the same while in their environment. They would never lay the ivory on me though, so I treated them the same as everyone else. It doesn't bother me at all. These type dogs are not for everyone.

Yeah if the dog never bit me or showed any aggression directly to the hand would be a tough call even if he would excite bite. Although technically its not good. Definitely different degrees

I kept dogs since 1985, been bitten a few times same as everyone else, genuine mistakes while playing, wanted let go when they were working and other scenarios in between, but the worst beating I ever had was four years ago when a 48lb male had a go at killing me! I was on my own with him, he'd never given me cause for concern prior to that day, I was scrubbing out his pen while he played with a boomer ball same as usual.. When I finished cleaning I threw him a Kong, picked up the boomer and walked away when bang! I felt his teeth sink into my right calf.. He nearly got me over but I grabbed the fencing on his pen and managed to stay on my feet, he switched holds, grabbed the inside of my thigh and shook the shit out of me.. Thankfully the dog was restricted inside the pen by an 8 foot chain and couldn't drive into me due to the chain being fully extended (saved my life actually) I screamed and punched him, but you can guess how little effect that had! The fucker switched holds again, but this time he only managed to grab the 2 middle fingers of my left hand in his front teeth, I thought I'd lose them, but again the chain stopped him from driving in deeper for my whole hand.. I lost some skin off my fingers, sustained muscle and tissue damage to my leg, lost a lot of blood and the wound looks like a shark bite today.. I reckon the dog was into me no more than 5 minutes, but it felt much longer! The reason I mentioned it is because I wonder how many have considered the scenario of being alone with a dog who suddenly flips out and full on attacks you.. What would you do? I don't mean what would you do after? I mean what would you do in a dog attack situation to save your own life? I was always confident around all dogs, but I'm wary now of being on my own, especially around big dogs..

I usually don't buy grown dogs. Every dog I raise I give every chance to bite me. Because all my dogs have been house dogs to a degree they have safe spots like under the bed or in their cage where they feel empowered and tend to lash out. I grab they ass right out that shit basically daring them to bite me. Better to know for sure when they small and won't sustain any serious damage. Only been bit once breaking up two dogs and dog that was curing turned and bit the shit out me. Go figure. Didn't latch on though thank goodness cause that mofo could bite. Had one deep puncture that felt like I got shot. Never owned a dog that tried to attack me though

Definitely if I lived in a country where firearms were legal, I'd carry something small that packed a punch.
That's a wise policy.. The dog I mentioned was 2 years old when I got him.
Something I thought later was other dogs were tethered close by, maybe I could have unhooked the attacking dog and tried to reach the other dogs who would have been straight into him, maybe a gamble though since as long as the fucker was restricted by his chain, he couldn't really get working me properly. Since that day I did wonderwhether other owners ever considered what they'd do in the same 'bad apple' scenario?

Kin hell oldguy you were lucky to get out! i had a bitch montana x banjo boyles stuff that bit me in the inside of my leg cos she couldn’t get at a reid bitch in the kennel next to her ...needless to say she was pts ...i actually gave her a few chances actually as she would nip my daughter with her teeth if she stopped stroking her etc ... imo there's no place for man biters no matter how good of a worker they are , especially if you have kids around ...pts is the only option ... i know people have said they could be kept out of the road but what happens if your kid etc wanders in ? ... too much of an accident waiting to happen for me and i aint gunna risk it where mine or anyones elses kids are concerned

The thing about what happens if one goes for you and you are alone.... funny thing happened to me ( although not funny at the time ) i had a staff that was getting fit and as i walked past his pen and he was at the gate opening where you locked it ..i stuck my hand through to stroke him and the twat grabbed my coat near my wrist and started shacking the fk out of me ...i couldnt even get to the keys to open the mesh gate as i only had one hand :) i thought how the fk am i going to get him off so i done a houdini and managed to slip my arm out the coat ... sounds stupid now but ive stroked them through there mesh gate hole thousands of times and nothing ever happened...only thing i can think off was he was getting fit and i had an army jacket on and as i had just got him back off a lad that was in the forces he didnt like him or the coat :)

Guys this some really crazy shit your saying. I honestly never new this existed to this extent in the Gamebred dog. I had one he showed weakness ànd sadly it was over. We shouldn't care if the dog can do Equations and is a Olympian. Honestly last story i heard of a dogman letting dog aggression slide wás Collby. I know were couple others but i thought that was way back in in the day. These dogs are not for everyone yeah not even for some our own

I think another one of the old adages is true as well.

The way to tell if a dog will bite is if they have teeth. Just like quitting, or winning, or being a great family dog....they will do anything if the circumstances are right.

My buddy has a next door neighbor that had a beautiful big male bulldog. Black and white and built like a brick shit house. He was in a large fenced in yard. We were sitting on his porch and a group of kids rode their bikes by. One kid dragging a stick along the fence. The other kid throwing rocks as he rode by. Eventually one day that dog is going to go under the fence, over the fence or thru the fence and it will be another horrible bulldog, pit bull dog story. No one will ever hear about the tormenting that dog got on a daily basis.

I have had only one since the 80's that made the wrong decision concerning his teeth and one of my body parts. I have been a fan of really high strung, non-pet like Red Boy dogs to boot. Like the above post I give them every opportunity to bite as young dogs. I touch them and move them around when they are eating. I rough house with them. I put them in and out of crates when they have other things on their minds. If they see something across from them they really want to do it has to be OK for me to hold them.

I may have been plain lucky.

And the kicker to having non-man eating dogs is that they are incredibly easy to steal. Every one of mine would load up with anyone at any time as they simply love people. They will hang with anyone that will pat them on the head, like they found a new best friend.

    But so it goes.

Same way bred as the one that got me, stifles dogs for sure :)
With respect Skipper, I view the question of whether - or not - to euthanize man biters as a separate topic to the specific question of 'what would you do to save your life in a 'bad apple' dog attack situation?' I wonder if others had an experience like you did with your Houdini escape trick :) How many (like me) never gave a second thought to being alone with a dog they thought was stable, until suddenly it turned on them? Maybe a tough subject for some, but when it comes to bad apple dogs (whatever breed) I prefer learning over a head in the sand scenario!

Thats right slim some have been tortured by kids then finally react and are pts without a thought for what they have gone through ... i havnt kept as many as you lads and i have only had a few bad experiences ... i think alot of it is down to them been wound up then can’t switch off so grab at anything ? I had a dog ( banjo x boyles ) that never bit me but i knew alot of his litter was man biters and so was his mother ... i used to feed him on my own etc and could take his bowl etc away from him at feed times without any problems but i knew his breeding and i showed him abit respect and never really pushed him into wanting to bite me ..he just used to give me that look but i liked to think we had abit of a bond together ? he went on to bite a lads daughter years later :( ...don’t know what triggered that off but i was really saddened to hear this

Just reading these stories now and I guess I have been very lucky in 40 years never been bit not even close but the time I was set up by a woman at her house. I have even started them and rolled them by my self and never had to much trouble separating them with my technique again I must be very lucky now reading this I will be a lot more careful at my age.
