If the G.A.S. is preserved in the freezer nothing is lost.
I recall the dogs you talk about, a missed change for sure.

That’s always been the way, I always struggled to remember aspects of my own pulls but I remember other’s ppl’s pulls far better.
I look at all the ped, not just the bits that attracted me to it. That’s the thing ppl are not really that honest to the breed. To me if someone breeds a litter of two untouched parents because of what’s printed on the pedigree, then imo it’s a shit breeding and the pups are not well bred.

Most times it wasn't even because of what was written on the pedigree, but greed for pup money that got an untested female bred to an untested male! One such 'shit breeding' produced the dog below, went through intelligent breedings and some of the best in UK like the plague..

  5. U know thats one of the things tjats true people see different things @oldguy
now let me put out another thought out there
ask those same 5 people five or ten years later and the whole thing changed especially if there was a fallout
now imagine all the stories we read of people remembering dogs 20 to 30 years later , damn I cant even remember most
can you imagine the hogwash we read like it was the bible and we based our opinions on those 30 year memories on some pedigrees that were probably false to begin with

thats a cold shower aint it

Whether it was genuine I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it would not have came cheap..
Noticed another camp selling frozen breeding from this dog, and just know that won't be cheap haha!

People are strange, maybe it's a human thing that we look back at the old days and think the game, dogs, people were better in the past.. Were they? I don't know?.. I was on this UK island during the 80's and saw dogs such as blah, blah, blah.. So what? Others were in America during the 70's and saw Jeep, Bolio, Boomerang, Zebo etc, but it seems every new generation coming through looks at the last with a notion of gratitude and respect.. Sometimes I find that one difficult to understand since all my generation left behind was some old stories and the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991..

I owned a 1xw granddaughter of GR.CH.Zebo, lost a whole litter out of her in quarantine sired by Lonzo's King Elvis.. What was I looking for in that female and her offspring? Clearly I wanted clones of Zebo and Vindicator! She was a chest hunting fool, above average mouth, bad intentions, but so one dimensional compared to my local blood, even a blind hog could work her out.. I crossed her with Kingfish x Eli x Carver and then lost every dog I owned in a bust 6 weeks later, almost exactly a year before the DDA came in.. I don't think it matters whether it's old blood or new that we breed from.. If people are true to themselves, treat their dogs right and with respect, then chances are it's likely the dogs will take care of the rest.. Sorry for the ramble.

Even the 12 Apostles told different versions of the same story, by the time the Vatican got hold of the scriptures, edited them, translated them, picked what suited and discarded what never, I think truth probably went out the window :-O We get asked to swear on the bible if we go to court? 'Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth'.. What a joke! I never seen anyone tell the truth in court yet, not the police, the accused or the lawyers (especially not the lawyers!)
Years ago the American Gamedog Times nailed it with a little quote, usually at the foot of the front cover if I remember right.. 'TRUTH IS THE BEST LIE!'

No truer words have been said.

Two older fellows near here have damn near fist fought over whether Mountain Man's Bandit quit or got stopped. Neither had dogs off of him but were hell bent on 'knowing what they saw'.

Ten years after Ch. Charlie was off the trail we were comparing him to his brother Bobby. I said Bobby was a bit much harder.

The reply, "Charlie bit harder than you think".

I think the comment was as much to enhance the memory of Charlie as it was to relish the memory.

Charlie was the best all around dogs, most complete dog I have ever seen. But I have seen other dogs that bit harder, or scratched harder, and even showed more finish.

His traits were awesome but at the same time they can't be improved upon with time.

Sometimes we remember things the way we want them to be remembered.

I agree shite breedings are usually made for money. Just because the rare good dog comes from such a breeding, doesn’t justify such practices does it? More often than not the rare good dogs from these matings don’t go on to produce consistent enough when bred.
Some time ago you were posed the question why certain lines disappeared. The answer imo is because ppl were more interested in lining their wallets, instead of putting the breed first and checking to see if the dogs were worthy of being bred from in the first place. So the quality of those lines quickly deteriorated.

Really not sure mate? I don't want to hijack another thread with Reid madness, but it's the best example I can give of 'shit breeding' (as you call it) that constantly won over other blood that was considered 'well bred!'.. Every breeding Ed Reid did was (by your estimation) probably a 'shit breeding' but they demolished the best bred lines available in UK at that time.. So did their offspring, and so did THEIR offspring..

I remember visiting the coal merchant's yard in the north, he owned around 20 dogs bought direct from Crenshaw, Ricky Jones and Fletcher Chavis, this is around 1988, can you imagine the blood he had? A proven 44lb Redboy x Jocko import called Northern Lad's Winger 1xw came from that yard, I liked Winger, but sadly he met Scar Kennels Jacko (shit breeding) and Winger was RIP in 14 mins.. Nothing was heard of Crenshaw, Ricky Jones or the Coal merchant in the north again... I take your point about proven breeding and surely that must be the way we do things, but then I remember Winger and usually I say ' just go with your gut instinct, what ever that might be at the time!'

I'd say the above statement is about right.. Northern Lad's Winger lost against Jacko, Winger a good 1xw bred from stock imported direct off Fletcher Chavis' yard and Jacko put him in the sky in 14mins.. I could tell stories on Jacko all day, but probably no one would believe me, I never seen any dog bite like Jacko either before or since.. He was a monster, a total freak of nature.. All the UK pundits maybe say there goes oldguy looking at history through rose tinted spectacles again, but I saw some good dogs and could count on one hand them that (P4P) 'MAYBE' would have lasted 30 mins into Jacko, could probably only count 3 dogs that 'MIGHT' have defeated him and none ever bred, reared or owned south of Scotch Corner!
