Haven’t tried, but reviewed the ingredients on Chewy.

In the end it will only matter if your dog/s do well on a given food and what you can afford. Give it a try and let us know what you think. And as I’ve written before here (some will agree/some won’t); anything in a bag (cheap or high end) is processed trash compared to natural. That said, I have had good results with Victor Hi Pro Plus when not feeding raw. The 50 pound bag has a lower price point than Sportsman's and is a popular working kennel feed.

  4. I will give it a try and post. Yeah I’m rarely online. To busy with life and tending to the dogs. Hope all is well for you too

  5. Víctor hi pro has been the best kibble I have ever fed! It’s hard to come by where I live. Have to travel to get it and the feed store that carries it doesn’t always carry it

From the list of ingredients its a lot of bullshit for a big price. Corn is the 3rd ingredient but it's over $50 a bag? Not the route I'd go.

I did not realize it was that high. It sells in a local feed store here but I did not realize the price had jumped.

I have fed just about everything over the years. I fed Sprotsman's Pride a number of years ago and it was cheap dry food, competitive in price and did OK with the dogs. It was nothing to write home about.

I steer clear of the high protein bag dog foods. I'm not the guy that goes all 'veterinarian' but had a couple conversations with a vet that just moved to this area. He is like an old 'horse doctor' trapped in the new vet world. To get that much protein to not rot in a bag for shelf life, one it has to be a really shitty source of protein and then the preservatives are the biggest part of their diet.

Then the kicker is that it is a hard digest/assimilate for the dogs, especially as a daily feed or even a dog that is not being totally worked. He thinks 24/20 is max a dog regular dog can process without some sort of short and long term health issues. he wishes they made one that was 24% fat and around 20% protein with the dog's in mind vs. the people's needs for protein. He used the term 'warm fuzzies' and I gues i was sold on his medical skills from there. LOL

I'm 180 on the subject now as I have fed 24/20 for years, not the primo bran either, and a friend just had some hunting dogs die unexpectedly and the 24/20 year around was diagnosed as the source.

This vet may be my new go to guy. This is a guy who swings by and buys our chickens and goats because as he puts it, 'he does his own thing in the kitchen'. His dog get whatever he does not eat, sort of like it has been all thru time.

Babbling again. I feed Buddy Boy 24/20 for $23 a bag. Cheap shit but it keeps them up plus I add chicken and meats throughout the year. I am thinking of dropping my protein amounts back in the dry food and giving the real food a little bump.

I don’t know about Sportsman’s Pride but I know a good joke about the Sportsman’s Double.
