With so many good game dogs about I can't understand why anyone would feed an unstable human aggressive dog. I think it's an accident waiting to happen. Even if the only good bloodline available to me were nasty with people then I just wouldn't bother with a bulldog. It's definitely possible to breed families of these dogs that are 100 % with people. Oddbod bred a family of top notch dogs that were friendly dogs and he bred them down from a family of known man bitter blood so it can be done. Before I see Oddbods blood every single Spike Nelis Neilson bred dog I see was unsafe in varying degrees and I mean every one. I'm sure if these dogs had been brought up in better environments by people who had some limited obedience training skills then maybe half of these dogs could of been safe but why take the chance. I have absolutely no problem with pitbulls having a guarding protective instinct that can be encouraged or discouraged accordingly. No I'm talking about these strange unpredictable almost scitzoid dogs with strange mood swings unstable dogs that change from happy to spiteful in a blink. Keeping dogs like this is a stupid thing to do especially if you live in the overpopulated uk. For the first few years of owning this breed I was totally brainwashed by the Stratton books and other stuff so much so that I actually couldn't believe my eyes when I see a nasty man biter for the first time!
No wonder the breed got banned in the UK when people were keeping dogs like these. The public just don't care about how difficult it is for you to acquire a good game dog whether it's friendly or not. They can never understand why you would put them or their families at risk just for your our selfish hobbie. In this modern day I think it's just selfish and irresponsible to keep any dogs that if they got loose would or could put any human being child or adult in danger. I had stuff from that one eyed flossi skateboard breeding and they would for no reason suddenly get mood swings they were obviously unhappy and unstable around people. Some of this behaviour could be curbed with a bit of persuasion with the shit shovel over their heads now and then but it was still in their brains that inclination to be nasty with people. They were unsound in other ways having bad joints and slipping patella a hereditary problem. They would try to bite you as you close the kennel door on them bites not nips and you just didn't feel safe turning your back on them. They all got the big lead injection to the head. I want to be safe around my dogs. I don't even want to tolerate the ones that get too excited and bite your fingers when doing tugging games with a rope or piece of hide . When working my dog's on the mill I get my face right down next to theirs and encourage them as I do when they are in the action.
Good working lurchers and gundogs are socialized and trained properly intact the few really good dogs I've been around were practically moulded into the dogs they became by their owners. I think a lot of bulldog owners should try to be a little more hands on with the training side of things. I've seen too many behavioural problems in pitbulls that mostly could of been avoided with just the lightest degree of training.
Someone else mentioned at the beginning of this thread about black dogs being unsafe and they may have a point because almost every unsafe dog I have seen was black regardless of what line they come from. It can't be coincidence I have been round hundreds of racing greyhounds and only ever seen two nasty ones and they were both black.

Same here. I got plenty of black dogs and they're all people friendly. Only man eater I've owned was red with a black mask. Color don't equate to anything regarding personality. Upbringing and environment has far more to do with it than color ever will.

Not many dogs are born false if they are it is mostly to blame on the owner. Have owned black dogs who were reliable around people all the way. Owned once one who was a danger to society. Was raised before by a junkie who was knowing good how to mistreat a animal. Took pitty on the false dog and as a thank you he mauled my wife after improving in behavior at first unprovoked in arm and leg while she was the one he seems to like most in the household. Afterall it was the false mean dog his owner teached him to be what displayed. He was a red one, like many of my own except those dogs were gold around people. His littermate brother was just like him and made headlines for all the wrong reasons and their sister ... Sweet doggie and a Ch.

Yes I have seen far more friendly black dogs than nasty ones it's just what I was trying to say is most of the nasty dogs I have seen were black dog's. It's probably just a big coincidence. Probably the next few man bitters I come across will be red dogs?
Two nasty reid's dog's I see were black and brothers to my own people friendly dog. Two farmers boys dogs both dodgey sketchy fuckers and both black . Seven dogs from the spike nelis stuff were bitters six of these were black and one was a black n tan. But yes probably still just a coincidence.

Another dog springs to mind actually and he was not black. He was a light buckskin almost cream colour. He was 75 lbs fit and owned by a chap near Heathrow airport. This bloke was well into the dogs and him and his wife took lots of bulldogs in as rescue dogs and found homes for them. This particular dog could not be rehomed. This dog was absolutely MENTAL! it had been been seriously abused and trained to bite people. I see this dog twice and it was one of the most impressive dogs I've ever seen it was obviously down from the reid's Alcapone cross Wise blood that was all over London back then in the 80s. When he walked this dog on the leash it would be looking for people and when it spotted someone it would start that screaming death knell noise that some pitbulls do before you release them into another dog except he didn't particularly want another dog he wanted human meat. I was terrified of the dog. It looked at you like you were a rabbit or another dog. This chap was a nice enough man and really into the dogs his whole family was and his farther in law was one of the first people to be imprisoned for dog fighting they knew their pitbulls. So why the hell did they risk keeping this dog? Anyway the last I heard was they matched it into some nutter fist fighting chap in this chain mail suit =))=)) he was all done up like someone out of the medieval times:)):)):)):)) apparently the dog scratched into him and it didn't last more than 30 seconds before he screamed for them to break the dog off=))=)) this story sounds a bit far fetched but it did happen.
The 80s were crazy times. I was working in the east end of London back then and stray pitbulls were just walking the streets. I see them nearly every day. They all looked like Reid's bred Wise dogs and I would do anything to get hold of one of these strays now.

Another dog has just sprung to mind and this one was black. He was bred by the chinaman as he called himself. This dog was double bred on chinamans Reflex. Some really fancy blood going back to Andrea Guiru stuff. I was around a handful of these dog's and they were all pie balled in colour and had typical friendly pitbull temperaments except for this black one. He was a cracking looking dog who was really excitable and he had an intensity to him that you needed to see to believe. He would stare at something anything could be a leaf blowing a blade of grass moving or a small child fidgeting in their pushchair. His eyes would lock on to his target and he would start that screaming noise we all know. He was obviously unsafe. If he could get loose then he was like a heat seeking missile out to do serious harm. He was owned by this chap who liked to drive around in his open top motor posing with his pitbull. This dog was off the lead one day in a park in north London and he hunted down a young teenage girl who had not done anything to provoke the dog. This dog locked onto her leg and was trying his best to kill her. He was probably a 45 lbs dog but he got her to the ground and would of killed her but the owner managed to get the dog off apparently this dog kept taking another hold after being broken off just like a pitbull trying to get back to his opponent. The owner of the dog then told this poor girl that he was going to get the dog away from her and get help and an ambulance. He didn't do anything other than get his own selfish arse out of there. The girl was left there bleeding and in shock and he did his escape. This is why this breed got banned in the UK. Peddlers selling dogs that should be culled as pets to people who weren't capable of keeping a gold fish. I'm ashamed to say that I actually knew this chap and all of us had told him to destroy the dog on plenty of occasions but I think he kept it into old age. Coincidence yes probably but he was the only Reflex dog I see who was unsafe and he happened to be black?

Many dogs in my opinion show bad tendencies due to their upbringing. Especially in their early life. Not all,but many & let's face it..............there has been more owners who never deserved to own a dog than there has been who did or do deserve to own one.

Tell me this; in the story just wrote is it the dog’s fault or the owner? I’ve had plenty dogs not people friendly. Doesn’t really bother me as long as they know me and my family. A dog aggressive towards me well I would definitely reconsider owning him

The boyles dogs of which there was a limited amount had the tendancy to be man biters.
I say this through personal experience I had 5 from different crosses all of them would have you if you looked at them wrong.
But the main thing I noticed was that they all tried to be the Alpha males even the 2 bitches were crazy.

Yes mate I had piper for a good a while I treated that horrible fungal infection he had but got rid of him we just couldn't work him.
He had a knackered immune system slight bit of stress or hard work and BOOM he just started to go downhill.
He was one of the slightly better ones mate while I him he was ok,he ended up with estreets and he ended up biting someone there.

I've had Boyles type dogs since the early 2000s and many of the people I deal with have had them longer. Never have I heard that about them dogs. The very reason I've never strayed away from those dogs is that they have extremely good temperaments.

I got to agree with Finito. I'm willing to bet the vast majority of these animals that people are seeing act out towards humans aren't being brought up early on properly or socialized properly. Or even worse, being encouraged. I've raised 2 kids around these dogs from birth to one of their 20s and never had one so much as look at them sideways. There's a huge difference between a dog being protective of it's family or environment and one that will hit a human it knows unprovoked. I've only seen 2 dogs that were truely human aggressive and BOTH were encouraged at a young age to be so.

Where are yous getting these dogs from because I been around 100+ Boyles dogs and never once did I feel uneasy around the dog.
