I personally don't get trophy hunting. But wouldn't turn down that animal to feed some dogs.

I don't trophy hunt but I'm not against it either. These animals are on private owned hunting parks and the meat is used by the locals. It brings in a ton of money to poor areas where they are hunted. It gives employment to quite a few people as well. Many of these parks are responsible for conservation of said animals. Culling is a necessary part of any ecosystem. I myself have no interest in it however I don't judge someone else who wants to spend muti-thousands to bag game you otherwise could never hunt. It creates a major cash flow to the areas in which these animals are harvested. The better they are at conservation the better the gene poole becomes.

    I say good for her.

Here's a fact they don't ever seem to tell you. Money spent by hunters contribute to over 90% of the money used for conservation efforts. Way more so than ANY AR group on the planet, combined.

If the food goes to poor people, I'm all for it. I'm just not up for holding up a giraffe heart for the world to see. I also think that if more people knew where the meat went, they wouldn't be so against it.

It said in the article she only did it to mess with the AR nuts. Trolling basically. She could have left that part alone but people will be people.

They would still be against it. Those animals are typically owned by the people who run the private hunt clubs. It's a huge economic plus for the locals whom are almost always dirt poor in those areas. Most every part of the animal is used by the locals. The hunter usually only gets the hide. It's a huge part of that areas economy. I'd rather do that then to go pay a zoo to see a wild animal pacing back in fourth in it's tiny enclosure living out a miserable life confined. Most don't even blink an eye at going to a zoo but will quickly denounce the private hunting clubs that actually help the area and the herds far more than a zoo does.

I do agree about her poor taste in posting that animals heart on FB. That's unnecessary and actually gives a black eye to the business in regards to public opinion.

Social media makes folks lose their minds. Seen a few others gorilla glue their hair and one fella a plastic cup on his face.

I cannot stand zoos. The one and only place that I fully support and plan on going to is Black Jaquar White Tiger Foundation.

Most people will immediately think with their heart instead of their brain these days and the platforms like FB know this. Hense why you see what you see on there as far as targeted ads and such. It's a beautiful animal how could someone do that. They don't immediately think how culling elders of a herd actually benefits the animals in the long run, genetically and the long term health of the herd. They just see a dead animal and are appalled.

    Personal conservation story here,

I remember when Pa enacted antler restrictions oh, about 20 to 25 years or so ago. Had to have 3 points on one side not including the brow tines (Which actually is a legal point technically, 2 really, one on each side usually). I hated it. It's hard enough to shoot a buck as is and now they had to basically be a legit 8 point deer because they excluded the brow tines. It ain't as common as you think and back then, it was even harder to bag a big buck. However, after about 10 maybe 15 years, you could walk into any woods in Pa and it's nothing to see a massive 8 point deer. Many folks will pass them up for something more Boone and Crocket scale size. As much as I hated it at first, you can really see how over time how it helped create healthier herds, larger deer on average with much heavier racks. I know it's not a giraffe however it's it's same philosophy. It benefits a vast amount of areas when talking economics as well.
