    Got to agree with woodsy ...even if they well raised by experienced dogmen some dogs are just not trust worthy ... no good keeping dogs like this imo especially if they are around your family .... didn’t smuggler bite the owners girlfriend while out in the garden ?

    It's personalities I believe, I mean imagine if Mike Tyson or Razor Ruddock was dogs, it would take some special kind of owner that wouldn't get bit even once.. I don't know much about Nelis bred dogs, but CH. Neilson would bite you and tried it with me a few times.. As for the story about Smuggler biting somebody, I think most CH. Spike blood was high strung, not sure Limey's would have cancelled a dog for biting someone, but they'd have done it for stopping... I took an absolute pounding off a 50lb Montana x Boyles cross a few years back, I was on my own and if dog wasn't restricted by chain, I'd have got it far worse, way I see it is if you surf in Australia, it's only a matter of time before you encounter a shark and if you're around dogs, it's only a matter of time before you encounter a high strung animal.. A fella I know in USA got one off Bennet Clayton just before he passed, told me dog wanted to kill him all the way back home, just laughed and said he'd come round eventually, IMO that's what dogmen do.

    I think it was that boyles stuff in them dogs that the dodgy stuff came from mate ? I think them montana stuff were really friendly dogs just noisy bas#^#*s lol .... i remember visting benji and pixies owner with the owner of dillin and as i was patting gypsy who was out with her sister she switched and grabbed me by the sleeve of my coat ... could have got out of hand very easily if p hadnt calmed her down .gypsy was about 20 month old at the time and turned into a real good bitch ! As p was bad at the time i offered to help his wife walk the dogs while i was over but he said no as pixie was strange ... i agree with what you saying its about law of averages that you gunna come across some bad ones if you keep them long enough .

    The difference between you and me is (1 of the many :))) that you like to keep the mainstream stuff (again) that every Dick and Joe can get, and I like the more hidden and more honest stuff coming from honest people. But I don't expect you to understand this, Mr. Pseudo-Corvette-driver :))
    I got dogs sent to me from your country that you wouldn't even be able to put your eyes on :-O:P=))

    Ain't never laid eyes on a bulldog that's funny ben =)) Well I must be blind then cos I've been round plenty. RSPCA well if you wanted to hurt me mate then you just managed it with that statement. Back then when all this shit was going on the RSPCA weren't going after any of these dogs I'm talking about no they were mainly killing people's pets. The bury your head in the sand approach will never work with any breed if you don't weed out the nasty unsound dogs from breeding programs. The few good ones well good enough for me anyway that I had were Reid's breeding and as far as I could see he was one of the very few breeders who was trying his best not to produce man eating liability type dogs. Everyone else was just had a few wins with a dog and then bred it no matter what it's temperament was like cos they see that cash register sign in their heads.

    @Woodsy
    Pseudo-Corvette-Benny is just upset, because he just keeps those childbiters.
    Can't say manbiters, because his dogs don't even have legs for running or jumping.
    They are just retarded stumpy dogs, just like the owner is =))
    Velvet and steel at it's finest :)):)):))

    I picked up a 45lb male from North East that was triple bred Limey's Nelis, no crate, just traveled in back of van with my old dog partner who was sleeping off drink from previous night, hadn't drove 10 miles before dog started playing up.. My partner asked me to grab dog because it wanted to bite him and I'm laughing and calling him a fucking cur, eventually they worked out arrangement, the dog mounted on his arm while he rubbed it's testicles, every time he stopped, the dog growled and he had to play with it's balls again, he got humped for next 150 miles, but never got bit.. Dog turned out decent investment, he got trophy, I got to be Earl Tudor for a day and my partner got drenched in drool and dog semen haha!

    Just one horror story is one too many but this shit happened and we need to acknowledge it and learn from it before we can move on. Most of these dogs are really good with people but if one or two good match dogs who happen to be unsafe and produce the same get bred then our breed could start to change for the worse within a few generations. That's how it's gone with other breeds with their bad joints and unsound qualities.

    Those last dogs I just mentioned where the whole litter were dodgy. I think they were ch Neilson on the top from a Nelis Patrick Panama Red bitch. They were good match quality dogs and absolutely smashing looking animals. They were all black athletic looking just like the famous plumbers Alligator type dogs. Before I realised they were dodgy I was very interested in getting one myself.

    Well seems it's illegal to own one now in the uk then I probably shouldn't answer that question but no not at this moment but that could change tomorrow if I see something I like. My last one got buried 4 years ago. I keep working hunting dogs now but nothing compares with a good bulldog.

    What lines are known to throw dogs with sound mind and temperaments now a days?

  19. CopperOFRN

    That’s a loaded question. Really depends on what you plan on doing with the dog. Sounds like you’re looking for pet quality with some working ability or vice versa? What kind of lifestyle do you have? Any dog needs a “release” and some more than others. Are you able to work this dog?(weight pull/spring pole/treadmill/etc) I’d say you need to ask yourself what the dogs purpose will be, and then decide what you want after that. “Sound mind and temperament” are very subjective. This is a decision only YOU can make after doing your own research. Any line can produce any temperament. The idea of selective breeding is to produce very strong instinctive qualities. For example, if you wanted a retriever you would find two excellent retrievers and breed them. But, there is every chance that you may get a litter of duds. Line breeding just increases your chances of getting what you want- no guarantee. I’m oversimplifying, but you get the idea. With all this being said.....what will your dogs primary purpose be?

    ADBA shows and pet weight pulling etc. I understand the dogs need a release I have owned one before but that was 20 years ago when I got my dog.
