My grandfather had a dog in 1938 or 1939 that look very much like PlugUgly Picture on page 137. My grandfather lived in Miami Florida raised Hogs and Cattle. Could not tell you what happened to the pictures or anything else. I am just saying.

When the APBT get banned in Europe a bunch of folks switched to the American Bulldog and bred it often to pieces as seeing so many not sound, a shame but so it goes often when popularity set in.

Check out Crenshaws Black Jack. You’ll find a lot of the Black ABs out there resemble black Jack. It was a simple way to bring some more gameness into an AB line and still able to call them AB’s

  9. I know a man that had a beautiful white Mccoy dog about 95 pounds. He was an excellent stud that produced that head and bone consistently.
He sold him to an American Bulldog breeder to enhance his lines.
He was a well built dog not the exaggerated types around now.

  14. Enormous man.

Remember I read a article by Hammonds were he spoke of a tight Dibo bred dog that weighed in at 110 lbs:-O..
He said it was a monster catch dog on boars.
I read of another one in fat bills book that weighed 90 lbs and the owner of the beast said it could actually kill a fucking boar on its own:-O..
no doubt they were these huge sizes hundreds and hundreds of years ago.
Real hand fulls at these big weights I could imagine lol.

You're talking about English bulldogs. It looks like a formidable dog, but in fact it is a rather stupid dog that has a lot of health problems. The English Bulldog is prone to heart disease, various eye diseases, hypertension and cancer. In addition to all the health problems these bulldogs are difficult to train. I wanted to train my dog before we went on a trip, and I was able to teach him some skills thanks to the information from https://www.petsguided.com/. I spent a lot of money on his treatment. I thought that only my dog has such problems but as it turned out, this breed is prone to diseases.

No, no were aren't talking about English Bulldogs. Those dogs can't walk down a flight of stairs without gassing out let alone be considered a working breed of dog.

I can tell you I know a few breeders here in upstate NY that have some of the hardest APBTs I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Two specifically that produce 80lb gamedogs. If you look at their peds you’ll see all the right names (midnight cowboy/chinaman/honeybunch/frisco) but I haven’t seen any of those dogs produce 80 plus pound monsters consistently. Clearly must be some “special” selective breeding or someone is t being honest about their outcrossing. Either way- they are impressive dogs. Bone crushing barn burners, but impressive. These dogs live in sub zero temperatures and survive primarily off cow heads. The bone and head structure on them is impressive. I’ll try and upload a pic of one of the up and coming 10 month old males.

Do any of these breeders have a kennel website? Id like to see what they are working with. I have my ABs crossed to some of those same APBT names amounting to about 1/4 on top and bottom of their peds. Im getting males in the low 70s, occasionally larger, but not often.

The two I’m referring to don’t have websites, but if you’re familiar with Macnamara kennels they have some dogs dog from these guys. Both of these guys are in their 60’s and just have small yards with 1 or two breedings a year. I tried uploading a photo but the file size was too big and I don’t know how to adjust it.
