Thoughts on dogfighting

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by JayDobermanSquad, Oct 23, 2021.

  1. So I never thought about dogfighting because it’s sort of a expected thing to be against the sport but I have seen some breeders who are actively involved in it and I wanted to ask some questions about dogfighting. I always saw dogfighting as this cruel and horrible thing but I am now coming into this forum with an open mind and was wondering what your thoughts on dogfighting is? Is it really as bad as they say? Do dogs get treated like shot and thrown in a pit? Do dogs die a lot? Are the dogs forced to do it? Also another big question I had was can you evaluate gameness with another method other than dogfighting? And I am not judgemental so I am open to new opinions and views, I would love to hear both sides of the coin! Thanks!

That’s all very subjective, and this is only my opinion. When bull baiting/ bear baiting was outlawed, pit fighting began. These old school guys would wear their nicest suits and bring their families to these matches similar to how boxing is today. They conditioned their dogs and we’re very proud of the time out in. When the outcome of the match was evident, it would be stopped and the handler could tend to their dogs. As time progressed and animal activists began to advocate for these matches to stop, pit fighting went underground. This is where thugs/punk bitches really ruined it. These dogs are born to fight. They come out of the box that way. Conditioning/bonding makes a game dog a winner. There are definitely other avenues to illustrate gameness such as hog hunting, weight pulling, etc. but it’s not really the same. I don’t think anyone on this board promotes dog fighting. Mostly just enthusiasts and lovers of the breed, like myself. These dogs will basically excel at anything you throw at them. Due to their high animal aggression it makes them VERY difficult to own. Hope this sheds some light for you.

It's horrible and cruel and you're a sicko for bringing it up. Find other interest, go away.

Not for the faint at heart and illegal in most "civilised country's". Gameness the will to continue against all ods is a mental thing some pit bull terriers brings to the table. Many legal sports around for the dogs, stick to that if you don't want to go to jail. In todays "modern society" dogfighters are deeply hatred by law and the general public.

  5. I bought up dogfighting because I wanted to know what really goes on in the pit. How am I a sicko? I do not support dogfighting but I do not judge others for participating in it either.

Well if you think about what your asking then why be surprised that nobody is going to tell you 'what it's like' in their own words.
With a little bit of searching on this site you'd be able to find various match reports. Failing that, you can go on youtube and type in some famous dogs name and chances are you'd be able to hear these exact same reports. If you still haven't found your fill then search on here regarding Russian dogs which may still provide you with a link to some videos.
Lastly, as said at the beginning "think about what your asking" or else you'll be given some shite instead....(it's how we roll....lol)

  8. What's your opinion on hog hunting as a way for testing your dogs? Wont that work as well? I am seeing a few bulldogge breeders that are starting to use hog hunting as a form of testing for gameness instead of rolling and pit fighting.

  9. Makes sense, I saw some videos on a few rolling sessions on YouTube and I have to say that I don't like it but I have nothing against someone else doing it. Rolling seems like there is less scratching and biting and a lot more wrestling than actual matches though. I have seen actual matches on Facebook and they take place in India and I definitely don't enjoy the fights between the dogs.

No. Go in that forum and READ about the history of the breed. You are asking a question that no one is going to answer.

  19. That shit crazy, I don't support dogfighting but maybe our law makers should take a look at why dogfighters are getting 102 for fighting dogs and less than half for killing a man.
