in the young days off apbt world in Georgia a young talented dogman did decide to quit out the dogs. Many off us overhere will know this story. Why did this young talented man with great pair eyes quit out the dogs and he never ever showed a dog or kept a dog. We talk here about Mr. T. Al.
He came in to the dogs because off apbt history and the game around, i had chance to chat with this guy. He was winning his shows , he was also about to give good worthy show. In the beginning none knew why he did take that choice, his life was al about dogs. Onece his frend had a show, Mr T.AL normally never went a somebodys show except his own show. He did just mind his own dogs and his work but onece a his good frend had a show he decided to go too his show and support him, his frend had a very big mouth and he loved to make jokes about opponents , he didnt know this would be his last Joke last show while he was winning he started to make jokes again other Guy couldnt take it. His dog was losing there were Jokes whic maked more worse for him. His frend got in fight with owner opponent and got stabbed and he almost died. After this Mr T. Decided to quit dogs. He said this is a sport i love but i cant risk my life for dogs i have my familly and i love them more than the dogs. Maybe this was the one and last accident in the dog sport over there but there is no quarentee. So he must stop doing what he loved nobody heard ever something from him. People forget this is a sport and you must respect your opponent you dont know whats going on in his mind. He is gone but never forgotten this was a God lesson for all dogmans over there.
Mr T. Is now not any more around but he showed this sport is al about having respect and giving respect.

Note: this is writen by his frend who was the reason he stop having dogs. He also quit. Not many know this story but let this be a good lesson for everyone who loves the game.

    Historical purpose.

It happens. I am a nobody in the dogs. The guy that turned me onto the dogs got busted twice with a real close call in between. After the second time he hung it up. He loved them and loved when we would stop by and talk about dogs but he would not do any dogs ever again. He always said people had to be as game as their dogs to be successful. He said he was like a lot of dogs as he was game for a long time but in the end he considered himself a front running cur. LOL.

I myself have headed down that same road. I remember a time if I graded a dog from 1 to 10 and he made a 'high six' I would load up and hit the road. Today, I can't muster the same moxy I once had and in time I will be a front running cur as well. LOL.

Since we are human and we are suppose to have the ability to reason sometimes other things are more important.

I believe it was same for Glen Stubblefield, he hung it up after GR CH Buddy got stolen, said he would always love the dogs, but didn't like the new people coming into the game.. I'm guessing he meant the drug dealing, coke snorting, Rolex wearing, SUV driving, cologne smelling, £1000 track suit wearing police informers who wouldn't last 2 minutes inside a 4x4, but demand swift justice against old Rover because he stopped in 2 hours, maybe I'm over thinking it :-B

People get out for any number of reasons. Most of the time when people 'get out' the game is better for it. Every now and then the game itself suffers but that is few and far in between.

Great topic and I don't mean to clown with it but one of my favorite dog/internet posts start out, "Getting out of the dogs" and my first thought is that I wonder what made them think they ever 'got in'.

But that is just my personal observation.

In them out them the world goes on. It's fantasy to think one needs to be " game as there dogs " or anything of the sort. Identify one self through some dogs is pathetic at best. If a fella greatest accomplishment comes from dogs then that's a waste of lifetime opportunities. I'm addicted at the point and a realistic at the same time.

Game as the dogs? You gotta be kidding me. I trained in MMA including 6 years of wrestling and have also worked with many, many combat athletes and can tell you 99.999999 of the human population will quit if even pushed a little hard. Even the top guys in the UFC are not dead game or even close.

This is especially true nowadays, but the guy ready to put a bullet in, or throw in the trash a dog because he quit at an hour 30 wouldn't would quit immediately after taking just one punch to the head/body or kick to the leg. I've probably seen 40 BJJ blackbelts who tried to transition to MMA quit after getting punched in the face just one time.

Oops...can't find the edit option. Was supposed to read "trained 17 years in MMA including 6 years of wrestling" and "quit at an hour and 30 would quit" (not wouldn't would quit").
The point is, if you expect a dog to be dead game you should first look in the mirror.

I have only done one breeding (GDCH Haunch to my Shago bitch) but one of he dogs turned out to be this enormous cuddle bunny that to my knowledge didn't even start. Instead of putting her down I found her a good home (there are lots of people out there who like giant cuddle bunnies) and all I asked of the guy was not to breed her and give her some love, which he did.

Gameness is nothing more than the willingness to continue. We can put all the descriptive words in front of it to make it more complex and give ourselves the warm fuzzies about our own personal definition/ personal preference when talking 'game'.

The phrase 'as game as the dog' has absolutely nothing to do with a human being 'game in a combat/punched in the face situation'.

It has everything to do with the willingness to continue. If the dog quits he needs to be removed from the gene pool. In order for an individual program, or the breed as a whole, to 'continue' the owner must be 'willing to continue'. That could be putting a dog down, placing him as a pet, using him a roll dog, or simply feeding him forever without him/her being reproduced.

The owner has to be 'willing to continue' and breeding known curs in not continuing, it is digressing.

Sometimes it means a person is 'willing to continue' to see if said dog is indeed game, even if said dog can't or does not have the tools to win, basically, 'you gotta know before the family should grow'.

There is no one that can truly explain why some dogs are game and some are not but when a person is choosing 'digress' over 'continue' it is usually linked to profit/profitability of said investment.

Never meant to imply a person could be the same.

Yes, I think willingness to continue is an excellent description of gameness.

  12. what a bunch of talk about something no one got business with
let me put it plain and simple
someone else paying the food bill
    someone else scopping poop
someone else gonna do your jail time
someone else gonna manage your messed up social paranoia life as a dogman

answer to most to the above is no , u dont need to explain getting out of the dogs to no one
anyone who been grinding these dogs for a long time and hasnt thought about getting out or at least tone it down and go more underground , either lives in a country where people dont give a shit about dogs or idoesnt care abut the above its that simple

    Very true,

the man that turned me onto the dogs told me when I was just a teenager that if you stay in these dogs 10 days, 10 months, 10 years or the rest of your life, when you stop (get out) and you have enjoyed your time in the dogs that is your business and your business alone. He also added if you have enjoyed your time and get out with no one knowing or remembering your name, that is all the more better.

    No explanation necessary.

When the feds started flying helicopters over my house I got the hint. When I’m out picking up shit and there’s an airplane doing circles above my dog yard my suspicions were confirmed. When I’m home for lunch to take care of my bulldogs and I see the news on my tv…
“Missouri 500” yep, shit just got REAL serious.
Snitches, bitches, liars and lawyers trying to make a deal, pussies who never shoulda seen a bulldog now spilling my life in front of a federal grand jury.
I knew this shitstorm was coming after the 2006 bust outside of Madison. I got my shit in order then and waited for the inevitable which came 2 years and one month later.
Me, my beloved partner and several friends were able to lay low breaking no laws and not falling for the government cheese in the trap.
The aftermath left us with a large target painted on our backs FOREVER.
They wanted us bad, I didn’t give them anything but to win I couldn’t continue.
In my opinion the worst thing you could do to a dog is ask them for one more after they have proven themselves beyond doubt, WHY??
Why would I do that to myself?
    as Keith said
After all is said and done
I did alright I had my fun
I’m gonna walk before they make me run…
