You need to begin bottlefeeding ASAP. They are too young to begin eating puppy food (you can start supplementing mush food at around 4-5 weeks of age), but until then, buy yourself some bottles & some formula & begin feeding EVERY puppy approx. every 3-4 hours.

  3. so i shouldnt make her feed them???

She has to be hydrated to give milk. Is she getting enough water and feed to produce. Or is she just abandoning her pups. I wonder that. If she abandons her pups you need not breed her again as that is a waste. Pull some milk out of each of her teats and see if she is producing a good flow. Some times a mother will dry up for what ever reason. Usually a nutrition reason. give her some salt about 1/4 teaspoon it will make her drink water more. Do that daily to see if it is that. But yes in the mean time you will have to suppliment her milk with bottle feeding. Make sure it is not that soy crap. Pet stores have a puppy milk powder but till you get that you can heat cows milk till hot then let it cool and fill the bottles. The nipple hole should be quite small as not to get too much at one time. Her teats should fill and be full every 3-4 hours and she should wan't releaf from the pressure. If she is not feeding her pups there is an issue. And forcing her to lay there while they suck on dry teats isn't going to help any thing.

Thanks bro. You can call me any time. I will send you photos when Gretchen has her pups. I am so stoked about them. I hope I have more than what are already claimed. stud dog owner one, and a buddy claimed some, they haven't even been born yet. Dag gum it. Any way I want to get some of those tracking collars like my friend has. He hunts coyotes. His dogs are getting ate up in the catch so he is going to train them to catch them nasty coyotes. Good because them things get my chickens and baby lambs some times if I don't shoot fast enough or if I don't let the dogs loose in time. I bet they kick butt doing that I want to raise some up and hunt hogs too. That is some awsome stuff there. [IMG]

Thanks Ghost, you are not kidding it is allot of work. I looked at some pups last night someone was trying to sell out of his truck up in Conway. Dude has been bottle feeding them from birth and they were 4 weeks old. I told him that I doubt any one would buy that kind of issue. I am sure he loved that. They did however look healthy out side of fleas. He knew no history of the lines or any thing for that matter. I asked him what line he said $100. I told him I didn't ask how much but what line. He said red nosed I tried hard to be polite. I think I scared him though as he moved around his truck and let his girlfriend or wife talk to me. I did think it was nice he was strait honest about it and didn't try to feed me any of those old lines I usually hear. Not registared of course. he was bottle feeding them and they were starting on soft canned food. They may do well but I just don't see them finding good homes like that. Sad. Half of me wanted to take the whole lot of them and toss him some cash and let him take the girl out to dinner. The smart half of me got in my Mustang and drove home. I gave him my card and told him if he had any questions to call me. Just wonder what is in those little brains. Dust I reckon. Worms. Hell I don't know. I do the prenatal care on my dogs and all that happy stuff and some don't even feed them right. I wonder if it is they don't even know if the dog was bred or what by. Then again he may have gave me the strait line because he saw my Kennel logo on my back window. Can't say but I do know that was a sad and poor sight to be seen. The bad thing is those people breed too.

Yah. But they sat out there for hours and couldn't understand why they had not sold a one at all. It was pitiful. He started to ramble on about the stigma of Pit Bull's and I had to go. Those tiny little things hardly looked intimidating. I thought he had some of those french mini bull dogs or someting before he said bottle and four weeks. On dog food alone in one month I spend more than he had right there. No shots, no test, not weened, not papered, not wormed or rid of fleas for that matter. The only quick buck I ever got was shooting a running deer out my truck window. I felt for those poor dogs not him actually. I don't know why he seemed so scared of me. I reckon the shot back with I didn't ask how much jolted him. I can be rather blunt at times. I try to keep a good mood about me but some times ignorance on fire just hits a nerve.

3rd heat is fine it could be just cause shes a first time m om if shes let them feed while your in the room but attila had a good point about if shes producing milk or not and like mia said start bottle feeding right away or if she is producing milk just sit there every few hours and make her feed
