Jersey City,NJ -- A dog attacked a Jersey City cop responding to a tenant-landlord dispute on Thursday, police said. Police arrived on the 100 block of Duncan Avenue at 3:10 p.m. after a tenant complained the owner of the house wouldn't let her park in the driveway, police said.

When they went around the house to meet the landlord, they were greeted by his pitbull, police said. The pitbull charged at the cop and scratched his left arm, police said. When it jumped at him again, another officer drew his weapon, but did not fire. The owner then restrained the animal, reports said.

The dog owner apparently wasn't cited.

Why do they say it was an attack if the stupid cop was just scratched? Mine scratch me everyday you don't see me coming out in the news like a jack ass. Not that I agree about the loose pit bull but they shouldn't call it an attack if it wasn't even close to being one.

Classic case of a reporter making the news instead of reporting it. A non-story. Next they'll be reporting Pitbulls pooping on peoples lawns. MONSTER DOG DEFACES PRIZE LAWN!!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad that the officer didn't shoot to dog.....since it was a pit and all they could just say "Oh it was going to eat me so I shot it." That's a bunch of BS. A cop in my area (off duty) was walking his dog (not in his own neighborhood) and a pit got out of the fence and came up to him (wagging his tail) and the (off duty) officer shot the dog (four times) without warning (in a residential neighborhood with kids running around). The officer said that the dog was trying to attach him and the neighbors said that hte dog was friendly, showed no signs of aggression, and the officer never told the dog to go away...just shot him. Gee Guess who didn't get into any trouble?? The officer got a nice little story about how he saved the neighborhood for a mean and vicious pitbull. What a bunch of BS. A family lost a lovely friendly pet and the officer got praise for MURDERING an innocent animal. If it was a lab I bet it would still be alive. What a shame.
