Halloween night started off good w/ takin' the kids and Trouble trick or treatin'. We were all having a good time till the end of our stroll down the street....when all the sudden I get a call from my bro-in-law (Dru a huge pain in my @ss)....(just 2 give you guys a little in sight on his background he has no respect 4 himself much less any animal...but he does own APBT in which he uses 4 a punchin' bag when it does something wrong or hell even if he's just pissed might take it out on the dog.) Well any way he is living w/ the guy who owns Cain (owner's name is Jeremy)....(I'll give u guys some of his background... I held and took care of Cain 4 almost a yr w/ no help from Jeremy. This guys comes into my house and steals from $ me and try's to blame my wife...(yeah right she gets it anyway) But any how the guy who brought him over, I have known 4 bout 10yrs confirmed this 2 be true...So I told Jeremy 2 stay the hell away from our house) 2 make a long story a little shorter..Jeremy shows up 2 pick up Cain w/ him being the owner and having the papers on Cain I had 2 let him go...(mind u we're bout 5 weeks from being in court 2 settle this dispute and I was aiming @ obtaining ownership of Cain) Well the call was 2 inform me that Dax (Dru's Dog) had killed Cain. They had all left the house they were staying in and in their return found blood all over the house Cain DEAD and Dax bearly hanging on. Of course one blaming the other 4 the incident (ur dog should have been in ur room, well ur's should have been in the crate...u get the picture) It really pissed me off that Dru would even call in a braggin voice to tell me this...Now my oldest son is in tears (he really loved that dog...Cain was a very gentle dog), one of the best dogs in my life is dead, and 2 idiots fighting over who's fault it was...Is there any input u guys could give me on how to keep these guys from owning another pit. Now Dax is @ the vet being repaired and I would have thought that the vet would have put him down because of this...but I guess I was wrong.

    Highly pissed and upset

Maybe if you can find some proof of their behavior towards their dogs or even call your local authorities and they could do something. Is there any thing that you could get them on, under fed, no water/shelter anything???

Well, your eyewitness accounts of him beating the dog "as a punching bag" is good enough to have his ass arrested for animal cruelty, and if he gets prosecuted (long shot but worth a try), then write a letter asking the judge to include a "cannot own animals for ___ years" restriction to whatever probation, fine, etc. he gets.
Hell, I'd file a report of the whole incident which resulted in Cain's death- he is guilty of negligence right there. If it was a dog I truly loved (which it sounds like you did)- I would make such a big stink about it he wouldn't even try to own another bulldog. If we do nothing when we know someone is abusing a dog, then we share indirect blame for the harm inflicted on the animal. Don't let Cain's death be in vain- your brother in law is a threat to any dog he gets his hands on. Even if authorities refuse to do anything (a definite possibility), you will have at least tried for Cain's sake.
Tell the breeder where you got Cain from about the incident- and supply a picture of Dru. If the breeder is reputable and worth a damn they will refuse to sell another dog to him- and might even tell other breeders to do the same.
I am very sorry to hear about Cain. Another sad and senseless death of a bulldog, at the hands of an ignorant and unworthy person.

Thank you all 4 ur condolences....and LuvinBullies thanks so much 4 ur info its a tremendous help. I for one of the many have witnessed him abusing this dog (Dax) just really didn't know how about going to get him put in the crosshairs w/out putting myself in the spotlite. The fact of him being related 2 my wife I didn't want to bring any drama into our home where my kids and pups reside. Because he is the type 2 retalate. As far as getting another dog Dru still has Dax (in which he aquired him from some backyard pup mill in the hood) and Jeremy had got Cain from someone out of state but I do know quite a bit of the breeders around here and can put the word out locally....and hopefully that will help. I have talk w/ my father in law (not Dru's dad) but my wife's real father who is a high ranking officer in the narcotics division here about this and he is gonna try to get something done thru one of his buddys...So hopefully we can see some justice! I will keep everyone posted.

    Thanks a bunch EVERYONE

You are quite welcome. Reps to you for being proactive with this in Cain's memory. "Thanks" right back at cha.;) Please keep us updated on the situation, and I also understand your discretion and not wanting to jeopardize anyone close to you by confronting this jerk head on with too much drama- your home and family comes first. RIP Cain :(- he was a beautiful pup.

    Flip,

Your going to have to man up and keep these two dick heads out of your house and yard. A thief should get the rope (ya hanging) I don't give a damn if he is a brother in law or not. As for the other dude well he should get the same. Any one that steals from you isn't a relative or friend for that matter. That is an enemy. Some times there has to be some drama to settle things. The best way to settle drama and things is to Man up hang them balls and tell them to stay away, out and never come back. If they need extra help with that beat their asses. If you can't do that use an equilizer (ball bat, etc). You can't bring Cain back but you can secure in your childrens mind that daddy wont let them push him around. Also protecting your family from the influence of an idiot. It isn't good for your kids to have a bad example. Weither you like it or not a child will look up to an uncle even if he is a jack ass. It is best to protect them from such an example. How many kids have you know to say they would never smoke or drink all day like grandpa or uncle joe and end up doing it as an adult anyway even though they said they hated it when young and probably did. You want advice for this matter, here it is kick the living shit out of both of them. And for the dude that beats his dog. I suggest chains an anchor and a big body of water.

Thanks 4 the advice, Attila. I have banned both of them from my home/yard and they will be met w/ force if they get balls-e and show up on the home front. They both know this...on a more positive note I'm a strong believer in kharma. These 2 guys did me wrong and both had bad things happen 2 them (along w/ myself loosing the probablity of gettin' Cain) not 2 days after Cain's death a friend of mine (from yrs ago and had not seen in quite a while) shows up @ my house w/ this beautiful pup in which he is not able to keep because of a moving situation. He explained his situation 2 me and asked if I would take care of the pup (he wanted no money..he just to make sure he was in a good home) So I told him I would take the pup in...funny how things go isn't it. I'm putting so pics up now in my gallery so u guys can get a look @ my new pup:D

    Thanks again guys,
    Flip

That is nice that your friend brought you a pup. That is interesting how that works out. I believe that when a door is closed God opens another for you. I will check out the pup pics in your gallery. Thank you for sharing this with us.
