Listen to this, I'm in petsmart the other day. Picking up some last minute supplys for my pup. Well when I stand in line some guy stands behind me with a pitbull pup. "Nice pup" I said. He said "thanks"
"How old is she"? "7 months, I'm planing on breding her this spring". I told the jackass that breeding her so early is not a good idea, nor is breeding her at all. "oh she's game, I wanna bred for the gameness". "She a pup, you dont know if she's game or not, at that age she is just trying to find her place". Then asked okay if shes game, whats her bloodline? He said full blooded red nose.....okay. the guy really didnt know what bloodlines where. I just left the store feeling sorry for his pup. People need to learn about the breed before just jumping to it.

That poor pup.....

 

This is 1 statement I often hear...She's game because she is an AMERICAN pit... Stupid folks like that just make me sick! grrrr

I had a guy, where I live, tell me that his 7 month old pup was "really game". I asked how can you tell if puppy is game? His reply, "She likes to play even when the other dog gets rough". Idiot!!! He has no clue about our breed but, you're only "cool"if you have a pit bull, right?LOL

I called to see what registry it was they said it wasn't registered. I asked how do you know it is a pit bull. they said that they were told the mom and dad were full blooded. I asked what bloodline, they didn't know. they even stated that it would probably be really good in a show!!!! wow. i didn't know that you could show an unregistered dog................

yeah most folks seem to not understand what game is. the term has been used so much people tend to think that it means fighting ability and that is not it. most people out there dont understand the breed and it hurts our real community in ways that effect the breed and the owners. i have some nice dogs and small children and people and family comment all the time are you scared for your children and those types of dogs turn on you, to tell you the truth i more scared for the dogs than i am the children. :cool:

 

all I have to say is $$$$$$$. to most people that's all it is. I have also seen first hand that taking care of their "full blooded" pits in not in their daily agenda. To most of these bybs, by the time a pup is old enough to be tested, it is already dying of heartworms. I think the average life span of one of these bybred dogs is 3 yrs. We had one brought intfo the clinic already in the late stages of hw disease (clinical symptoms have already complicated saving the dog). My husband agreed to let me bring it home & have it die in peace. We had the dog 5 days: he slept inside, watched t.v. with us, ate inside, & died peacefully & painlessly inside. This dog that only survived 5 additional days was supposedly these people's pride & joy family pet. But the owner didn't care b/c the dog had already produced him several litters of which he kept many pups. This dog was only 2.5 yrs old.
