So I was watching the news tonight and one of the top stories dealt with a dog fight stopped in progress. Apparently the police recieved a report and when they arrived people scattered leaving the two fighting dogs. Well the dogs charged the police and they were forced to shoot them. Sounds like typical bad press for the APBT. However, the story was actually presented in a positive way. The news reporter started off by saying that this type of activity is uncommon and is despised my most owners. Then they interviewed two guys who had APBTs and had only super positive things to say about them. I thought it was awesome that people will actually get to hear how great these dogs can be.

    got a link Zombie?
Somthing about this doesen't sound rite to me..I bet the police couldent get them apart then shot them. It doesent make sense that the dogs would fight ignoring all the people watching then just decide to attack the police when they arrived....there has to be more to this story.
Im glad however that the press presented the story in a decent manner. It is on rare occasion that they dont deface the APBT to there fullest.

Here is a link. It is a summary so it doesn't go into much detail. I tired to get a link from the Fox News website, but I couldn't find one. As for the dogs fighting. I wasn't sure about the dogs still fighting when the cops showed up either. On the news, all they showed was a fenced in back yard, and some wood piled up (maybe a scratching box?). The area this took place in is really bad, so I would not doubt for a minute that these people would conduct a fight in borad day light, 50 feet from the road.
(it is the third "paragraph" down)

    Arundel digest: Area news briefs

Police kill pitbulls after organized fight

A staged dog fight led to the deaths of two pitbulls yesterday, city police said.

Officers were called about 8:30 a.m. to an area between Harbor House and Eastport Terrace where witnesses reported a dog fight taking place, city police said.

When officers arrived, the dogs were biting each other and covered in blood in a field behind 1140 Madison St. Three men, thought to be the dogs' owners, ran away.

Police tried to contain the dogs, but one of the dogs charged at an officer.

Officer J. Klinedinst fired a shot and the dog dropped to the ground. Then, the other dog charged two other officers and was shot by Sgt. Karen Faulkner.

After the initial shots, police said the dogs were suffering, and they were shot again by Officer Klinedinst to kill them.

Also yesterday, a county police officer shot and injured a Rottweiler when it charged at him in Pasadena, police said.

At 6:35 a.m., Officer Paul Stammer was called to Fourth Street, where two Rottweilers were keeping a man inside his house and threatening people.

One of the dogs knocked down a woman standing nearby, then one charged at the officer, who fired three shots at it. The dog, whose owner police were still trying to find, was in stable condition later yesterday.

Shoot to kill when it comes to "pit bulls". But try not to kill any other of the aggressive dogs.
