I'm going to the ADBA Nov show in Nov. here in NC.. thinking of taking Folsom along and trying my hand at showing him... just curious for those of you who do alot of showing what you think of him so far.. I know he's not super ripped or anything, but do any huge faults or anything jump out at you? Any suggestions on what I can do get get him alittle better. I'll try and get a few side shots up if needed.. but here's a quick one I took today.

He has absolutely horrible confirmation! Worst I've ever seen!!!
Just kidding. He's a beautiful dog as far as I'm concerned. I could care less about all that conformation stuff. As long as they have heart!

He looks good , don't have much experience myself , but I think that if you could take him to swim a little , he would have a bit more definition.

  4. walk walk walk walk walk him. if you got an electric treadmill, try walking him on that. you got plenty of time to whip him into great shape. them n.c. people will bring the heat so you better be prepared for good competition. take a few side shots of him standing square and i'm sure some people will comment on his confirmation. nothing horrible stands out in that pic, but it's hard to tell.

good luck at the show! ;) glad to see you back as i haven't seen you around in a while.

btw, you not taking the new pup?

Where at do you live, if your not to far from me I could take a look at him for you. I've been showing now for 3 years, I'm in the process of studying to be an AADR and ADBA judge.
Boogie, yeah, us NC people are hard to beat, especially Ruff Luv Kennels and Razors Ridge Kennels. They are good freinds of mine, some real nice Budwieser Crusher stuff. I'll be at the Nov show, I'm so ready for the AADR Nationals too! Its 2 weeks away!

I am down around Durham/Roxboro... If I'm real far from you I could always meet ya somewhere.. I've been wanting to meet some folks from here for a while now, and it would be awesome to have someone with an experienced eye to take a look at him for me.

Your about 2 hrs away from me. I live just on the other side of Statesville, in Catawba. It's not really that far. I'll have to talk to my hubby about meeting half way.

Its not that he is jealous, he would probably want to see him too. He love the dogs alot, he's learning alot from me b/c I'm on here all the time reading about everything. He can't read a pedigree to save his life, but he sorta knows a good dog when he sees one, untill I point out its faults and such. LOL

  11. NC I pm'd you...other site!

Everything that Boogie said!:D You got a nice looking dog and he should look real good conditioned. Those NC shows do have lots of competition and lots of dogs. I got some big wins out of there, you can too.

I think you have a good looking boy from the picture. Put some more exercise on him and he should do fine. If he don't get any ribbons don't be discouraged because those shows in NC is usually a real big turnout with ALOT of real nice looking dogs.
Hand walk him on a leash as much as you can, don't worry you won't be able to out walk a good bulldog. That is the best resistance exercise for you and your dog. The best and easiest way to get to get a dog well conditioned is find things the dog likes to do and let him do the things he likes to do like running, chasing a ball, swimming, springpole, flirtpole, ect ect.... Also a wide variety of exercise is best to get a dog properly conditioned.

Good Luck at the show and let us know how you do. Even if you don't get any ribbons or trophies you will meet alot of nice people and see ALOT of very well conditioned and beautiful dogs.
If you want to see how the judges like to see the dogs looking make sure you check out the Champion of Champion class. Most of those people have been showing dogs for many years and know how to put a good conditioning on a dog and some may even be judges themselves. Really watch how they show their dogs and you can learn some pointers on how to show your dogs.

    Again Good Luck.

    My vote is for Angel!:)

  17. How long did it take to get Folsom looking like this the first time?

If you get back there...try him, but Angel is looking good also, and will improve with conditioning. I would go with Angel though if it was one or the other.
