he is a good-looking "pit bull" more specifically a good-looking American Bully...

  2. 112 degree heat?O wouldnt leave my worst enemy out in that let alone my dog.
I cant speak on your dogs because I know noting about tem. I do know that my dogs have NO HEALTH PROBLEMS at all. They breath just fine and the only time I am at the vet is for an anual check up or a mishap in my yad(verry rare). I live in VA so I dont worry about that kind of heat. It gets hot and they do just fine. If it ever hits 112 tey will be in the house enjoying te AC...lol

  3. Again I cant speak on other dogs but my dogs all have different personalities.
All of them are owner protective and I believe that has to do with how much love I show them. Only 1 dog in my yard is property protective. Te rest suck when it comes to that. As far as other dogs go. My bitches get along with damn near everyone and thing until someone is in heat. Tempers flare then. All of my males love females but hate other males. All of them love people as long as i'm not beeing harmed.

First of all I would like to say hi to everyone on this thread. I'm new here and I would like to voice my opinion on the matter at hand. I agree with a lot of things said on this thread from both sides of the fence. I am not an american bully dog fan myself. As long as Wall Street Bully is caring for the dog properly and he loves it, that's what matters. It seems to me that he recognizes the fact that there is a difference between american bullies and apbt's. If someone is going to own the american bullies and breed them. They should breed to their standard of dog. Your dog sounds healthy and taken care of so the best of luck with him. It seems like to me that a lot of people's opinion on these dogs are that they are out standard apbts. I respect their opinions because apbt's are a part of the american bullies genetic make-up. Wall street Bully, since this your dog of choice, keep it healthy, contained on your yard, and continue to keep the understanding that there is a difference between apbt's and american bullies and you are cool in my book.

I bet but Damn thats hot LOL. But true enough 110 here in GA is WAY different than there. I would take dry heat over humid ANY day. But me personally I would not do it. As long as you do it right thats all that matters.

And TG for them being out of standard APBT well that only applies when ppl try and pass them off as APBT. They have thier own Kennel club now (ABKC) With their own standards for breeding, conformation, and temperment.

Baha to most on this board we would not look at them as "pits". But to the general public they are. And "pit" is not a breed in itself. I know you know that already though. :)

i grew up around game dogs, but the first dog i ever owned was a bully, and for all the wrong reasons. i (shamefully :) ) bred my RE dogs, but once i realized all the problems and that i never once got a GAME dog out of the lot, i fixed em and sold em. but to each is own. my neighbor has a ghastly looking RE and i once joked with him that he should give the neighborhood kids rides on him and charge them a dollar a piece till he gets his money back. he looked at me and stared for a moment then emphatically agreed with me. i was amazed that he didn't understand what i was saying, but it supports my previous assumptions about his intelligence. anyhow... good luck with your dog. oh and btw, you DON'T have to take the dog to the vet every year as someone suggested. if you experienced and no what to do, you can buy most vaccinations yourself. there's only a few occaisions in which a vet trip is necessary. and then i suggest finding a very understanding vet.

I am not trying to be a jerk here but I have to ask - Wall Street, you say your dogs have no health problems, but have you had them OFA'ed or PennHipp'ed? I have heard owners of various breeds bred for extreme looks trumpet "My dog is healthy!" only to find the dog has HD upon examination. Then they sheepishly admit they'd "have never known" had the dog never been examined. The low slung bully look puts a lot of stress on the elbows & hips. I'd get the dog examined if you haven't already, before proclaming the health of any extremely bred dog, or you may just up eating a helping of humble pie in the future.

    JMHO ...

I would never advise anyone not to go to the Vet. You do not know how many cases of parvo I have seen from ppl buying their own vaccines. Vaccines have to be handled properly to be effective. And most ppl do not know that. Also can you listen to their heart and hear a murmur. Not to mention that in most counties only a licensed Vet can administer a rabies vaccine. And ppl self medicating their animals which in most cases they overdose or underdose. Yes if you can find a Vet that is understanding and willing to help. But don't go and do it on your own all willy nilly. They did go to school for years to know what they know.

Yes, but you have to admit a lot of vets have cranial impaction of the rectum & some have it so severe I'm surprised they can breathe! lol.

For example, there is a vet here in town who told a client that his sick Chihuahua had cancer & should be put down immediately. The man took his beloved Chi to a another vet for a second evaluation & do you know what they found? The dog was just constipated!!

Furthermore, most vets are peddlers. They pawn off that crappy Science Diet dog food (a feed they KNOW is crappy) & down here they charge $35 for a $5 vaccine. That's bull, esp. when one can buy their vaccines from the same supply houses the vets do!

The sad, bad fact of the matter is, while vets do most certainly perform a valuable service, most knowledgable (key word "knowledgable") fanciers can do 90% of what a vet does & do it cheaper.

And last but not least, vets are rats. Years ago, I once had a vet threaten to call the law on me after I brought in a dog who had been in a yard accident while I was at work. So you got to watch those vets. Any scar, any white fur & you might find the law at your house, even if you haven't done anything illegal, all b/c of a vet.

Now am I saying don't go to the vet? Of course not. But I'd only go when curcumstances absolutely require it.

    Again, JMHO ...

there is plenty of good dogmen out there that would put a vet to shame when it comes to medical care for a dog .alot of times vets over do things just to get some money . just take a look at the littlelest things like wormer and its easy enough to see .I have the greatest vet he teaches me alot and understands my needs and my money and offers me plenty of options.he came in on a sunday did C-section on a bitch saved the pups and was able to have more pups later and only charged me 200. not bad if you ask me . all this hes done still dosnt come close to the stuff i learned from good dogmen.......jmo...willypete

I never said that all Vets are great. But You never really know the other persons knowledge on animals. And what you or I may know how to treat they may not. And yes I have said it 1000 times always have your vet provide you with an estimate. Have them explain EVERYTHING to you. Ask questions. And if you do not feel you are getting the proper treatment get a second opinion.

And you stressed it right Knowledgable. But not everyone has the knowledge. ANd plenty of ppl have done more harm than good trying to treat their animal. I see that too.

And Willypete if you re-read my post I did say that try and find a Vet that is willing to help. All Vets are not bad so you should not clump them all together. When you go to the Vet you are paying for thier knowledge. Just like when you go to any Dr. Vets do get burned on payment. I see that often as well. Maybe I have been blessed to work for good ones.

My whole point is that no you should not run to the Vet if your dog sneezes onetime. But you should know your limitations as well.

But I think I strayed from the OP a little. Now back on track.

Hell yeah that is pure muscle no if ands or buts about it. I wanted to ask everyone and wallsteet something I know as well as a lot of people on here why would dogmen or just people that have had game dogs go and start breeding bullys I have herd one response that a guy told me that had game dogs and then switch to bullies he told me that's were the money was cause that's what people want and are looking for in a dog big, wide and short and he went on saying that game dog were hard to sell and game dog were just a past time. And I had people that had bullys and went back to game dogs cause they were easy to condition cause these people are big in show ring they couldn't compete in the bully show ring cause they wearnt bully enough for the show or the judge. Wallstreet whay did you switch from game dogs to what you have now?

Do you have a link to his OFA page? (DNA and Microchip aren't tests, you know. :)) BTW, what were his Pennhip scores?

If he was really OFA certified shouldnt you be able to post a link to their website showing his specific results? Also I think he is a nice looking "bully" just not what I want in a dog. As long as you are testing your stock whether its health for show dogs or performance for working dogs and not calling them something they are not I am all for you doing what you want! ;)
