    I agree Slick.

Those that jump on the bandwagon and riding the names.

And don't forget those that claims to know a game dog at 2 weeks of age because of the way it nurses! ROFL!

  2. Im not sure if your saying the backwoods is not the birth place of dogmen or it is but most of the old dogmen were country folk.. either way most people misrepresent the breed but hey its a lost cause... nowdays if a thug has some mutts in his backyard there pits automatic so even when pits arent involved there still blamed...

These dogs have been owned by shitheads and money-grubbers since the breed's conception. This isn't a new development, it's just easier to advertise nowadays.

Long before this breed was common with country folk, urban areas of New England was its primary home. You were far more likely to find a bulldog in NYC or Boston than you would in Huntsville, Alabama. Dogfights tended to take place in urban warehouses, bars, or even in an occasional hotel or department store. The breed migrated to the countryside as a result of increased crack downs by law enforcement. Keep in mind that although dogfighting became a federal offense in '76, it had been illegal at a state level since the 1860's.

It is true. Alot of times people want to over romanticise the by-gone era. Not everyone was a good sport or a decent competior. Where do you think the idea of rubs came from? Needles comcealed to stick a dog before a match. All kinds of b.s. has always been around these dogs. And public pressure has always been there. One old mag from the 50's I was readin talked about the boys comin in the door and the contest gettin back on 6 hours later. There were no goood ole days, and not everyone was salt of the earth. But you do remember the winners. While they may have not of been perfect, they had to be doing something right. Sure, there where and still are a lot of honest people in these dogs, but tell me you don't laugh if you've heard a "Silver Fox" story, about how the Ole Master pulled one on a friend just for grins.

  5. well none of us were alive in that time... so if it wernt for the country folk we wouldnt have dogs today... im nobody special but i have been involved with real honest dogmen for years... and if theres one thing they taught me is if noones talkin bad about you then you must not be a threat... and its held true everytime someones line starts doin well it wont be long till someone says there cur or they got hung papers or that they dont really show there stock there just pretty show dogs... we could go on for days on this... do i think internet doggin is a joke yea for the most part... hell i had dogs way b4 the internet doggin came about... but it does help promote wat your doing and just about every successful yard has something to do with the net
