A lot of people would have considered CH honeybunch to be a cur if this was the case, she didn't start till after 3 years of age ;)

But look what she did for the history of the breed :D

A lot of young bucks today get the term "Cold Dog" and "Curr" confussed. Basically I blame the new breed of internet dogmen and lack of oldtimers left to properly pass on the true essence of the true APBT. Historically Speaking and as taught to me by my mentor, a "Cold Dog" is a dog that won't start regardless of circumstance. A "Curr" is a dog that will either stop or quit once started. If a dog won't "start" how can it "stop" or "quit", that means it has never started. Therefore how can a "Cold Dog" be a "Curr" if it's never started. Therefore the correct definition of a "Cold Dog" is a dog that has NEVER started, and a "Curr is a dog that once started will either stop or quit for ANY reason. (minus human error in conditioning and thats another historical subject and debate best left for another day).

alot of folks do get cold and cur confused. Labeling a cold dog as a cur would only jeopardize a program if time wasnt given. @ least a cur would have to prove if it was a cur . Time is of the essence with this breed.

    Why is that?

I would rather a dog that starts later in life, than rush a bunch who aren't ready and cull a lot of good dogs. Impatience never helped anyone nor any dog nor any breed.

I don't think people get the two confused. I think, people make excuses to call there curs, cold.

A true cold dog is rare. They will just sit there wagging there tails while getting chewed up. They don't cry, sing, cur-snap, tuck there tails or anything like that.

Cold dogs if bred right, will produce.

    Not "will." "can"...."might"...."possibly".....but not "will."

Game dogs are not a dime a dozen. Not everyone owns them. Their were some in history that had great dogs, but never had a true game one. So the thinking that having a "game" dog is all in the breeding is wrong. Nor can you train it to be that way.

  10. This is exactly right. There is no dog out there that has never produced that you can say for sure will produce a game dog. In fact, even when one has proven to produce great dogs, it is not always guaranteed that he/she will always do so. Nothing is "will be" if it were, you think dog men of the past would culled? They would never have to according to your theory. (GATO)
