I got most of these supplies from a local feed store. I also live in BFE and they don't ask to much. You might check in with your vet about getting the medical instruments. Lots of this stuff you may find online because it's not illegal to own this. I'll try calling my vet and ask him about getting the supplies and see what everyone can do or at least order them from. I'll keep everyone posted.

    Listerine antiseptic mouthwash (original kind)

Good for keeping mouth wounds clean.

    Betadine scrub (soap)

Can be used like a shampoo

Just a FYI. Use a 50/50 mix of Betadine Solution (different from the scrub) and Hydrogin Peroxide as the first wound flush then straight Betadine from then on as the Peroxide will kill new skin growth which will slow down the healing process.

This a good list of items that are nice to have once you're stabilized but it's missing the two most indispensable items to have on hand for actual emergencies: At least one Solu-Delta-Cortef Act-O-Vial and injectable vitamin K.

Boy, I haven't looked at this thread in a long time. for those that asked about the kit I keep, I'm prepared to get surgical up in this bitch if need be.;) as far as where I get my stuff, if I told you I'd have to kill you.....lol;)

As for drugs and what not, these arn't my only supplies just the kit I keep close for everyday type fixes to things that seem to just come up out of the blue. ringers, NACL, antibiotics amoung other things are not needed typically, in lets say, "basic" first aid so I didn't list alot of other stuff that could be very helpfull in a wide array of circumstances:p

Good thread with the exception of long cat:rolleyes:

  16. Solu-Delta-Cortef + Dexamethasone (Azium)
    (Prednisolone or Flumethasone).
    Anti-Inflamatory/anti-shock injectibles. Reduce
swelling and discomfort - and with Solu-Delta
    Cortef . Azium is usually all you need;
    Solu-Delta-Cortef if it's really bad.Pain Killer (Lidocaine)

  17. Used for repairing split ears and tailtips

I use it on punctures too. If its open and should have a stitch or 3 and its somewhere I can't staple like the face, I'll use the super glue to close it after I clean it. Has worked very well for me over the years. Usually no visible scaring. I use it a lot on ears mostly though.

I don't keep drugs here since they have shelf life's and usually expire before they get used up. I get them when I need them.
Azium, prednisolone, dex, solu-delta I wouldn't keep in a basic first aid set up. That stuff goes in your tool box.

All good drugs to have access to ( considering you know how and when to use them)..

Never used it, usually just use a betadine solution or chlorihexidine. Surgical site scrubs have worked for me too. What's in the vetericyn? I tried to look on the link but couldn't find the active ingredients.

Vetericyn is made up of oxychoride compounds.
