i dont think i will ever get people. i can see if the fox was a nuicense-in this case far from it. it actaully HELPED those farmers-but they are too dumb to realize that.
look at the terrain- its a several hundred acres of crops, not livestock. the foxes will take care of the vermin, not destroy the crops.
look at what it took for them to get rid of the den.
seems like a waste of an ally to me

you cant tell how close it was to the farm though, could of been killing livestock there, chickens etc
also it doesnt have to be right next to a field full of sheep, they'll travel to get them, especially when they're lambing.

That has to be rednecks from the city who bought a farm in the country, I don't know one good old boy with a dog and a gun that would go to that much trouble to get a fox out of the ground. Freaking idiots but there could be something we don't know.

Anyone doing any fox hunting though this year with the dogs? I got my mine tracking the fox scent now and we are going towards the end of the month, excited as hell. I hope we get a above ground game going because I have my worked cut out for me if they are going to go to ground. Hoping to get a friend's patty to work with my female (bulldog).

My bulldog does give an effort but she looses focus on digging and I am hoping because it is not in her blood. Once they are on the ground, toe to toe, she game as they come but go to ground game is lacking. I am hoping by using the patty she will see him working the hole like a terrier. The dog that help show her to hunt was a lab mix that was damn nice dog but she treed everything till she was schooling the bulldog and then she wanted to "catch". Hell my bulldog will tree too but hates doing it, she screams the entire time on a treed animal. I am new to this hunting thing, learning as I go and have nothing but common sense and grabbing information soon as it catches my ears or on the web. I know people in dogs just not many hunters.

BTW, my bulldog is small for bulldogs but big for the holes, she is a 35lb dog.

Are you going to use your bitch to draw the fox out of the hole after it's been to dug to or are you going to be bolting the fox and hoping she catches it?

If your wanting the fox to bolt, unless youve got a bulldog with lightning reflexes you wont catch him, a bulldog wont stop trying but he will more than likely be outran with ease, hence the need for a decent lurcher.let the lurcher do its job then when the bulldog catches up let him do his job on the fox.

We rarely let the dogs do much other than flush the quarry due to when foxing we would be doing it as a job for a cocky, once the fox is out and running just shoot it and move onto the next target, no time for letting the dogs get all banged up if they dont need too, espesh when foxes have pretty festy mouths full of bacteria that can infect a bite inflicted on the dog if its not cleaned out the right way.

That is good question, I know speed of dogs and by far she is my best athlete I have ever owned, she runs like a whippet in terms of speed, to give you idea of her speed she ran down a turkey from flying and to running. She even gave a great effort on a young deer once too this year, but a open field she got blown out, in the trees she is a surgeon she knows where she is and where she is going before she does it. I was hoping that with that patty, it would help the situation if the fox does bolt, we can cover the other end, I was going to even possible use a net ( I have an old one that I bought on ebay a couple months back). Thanks you are bringing some things to light that I just don't know as a novice. I don't mind the digging, I have a true digger I built from the terrierman's advice.
Medical supplies, I am stacked up on.
