I had the same problem with my dogs chasing small animals. I have been using an e-training collar for about 2 wks and it has worked well. I use just enough of a pulse to get their attention back on me. Then give the recall and its works well. I use the sportdog 400 collar.

i have a dog here that wouldnt be able to stay here without one, most will get buzzed a few times and then know better. All I have to do is hold the collar out the door and show them and they shut up or if I have to put it on I can leave the power off most the time.

some stupid dogs will continue to bark but it works for some dogs

    here's the one I use, $60

Essential Pet PDBC-300 Deluxe Bark Collar

yea i was thinking about one of those too, but im talkin bout the shock collars for obediance purposes.
for instance, i take them out to ride the trails in the rice fields behind my house. most part of the year there is NOBODY out there which is the only reason i take em off the leash & let them run next to me. but there was a time i seen some hunters with theyre labs about 150 yrds away, i jumped off the bike and grabbed loco and put him on the leash real quick.
im affraid if that happened again i may not be so quick to notice and things would prolly have gotten ugly.
now i dont expect a shock to deterr a super hot dog from scratchin into another.
but hell, it cant hurt to try! lol

Laced, now that I know you aren't an ax murderer, I can show you how to use an e-collar and you can test to see if it works with Loco or not. lol I've got a Dogtra 200 NCP Gold.

Then it wasn't used properly. You should get, at bare minimum, on any dog at least an ear flick in acknowledgment to the sharp shock feeling.

Oh, and BBB, you've got a phenomenal collar. That's the one I use.

Ive tried the shock collar on my Pitty before but I have come to the conclusion that you have to put the settings kinda higher for her compared to other dogs. So I stopped using it

E-collars are awesome for proofing, too many people use them improperly for training though. Yes you can zap the hell out of a dog to get it to do something but it isn't really learning just avoiding.

  14. LOL!!! It might be small, but it has allot of good gear for hunting dogs and the best selection of professional shock collars... or at least it did back in 2001. It sounds like it shrunk a little. :dunno:

Oh, did I tell ya it was out in the middle of BFE! :D
