ehhhh, i personally wouldnt use something like that unless i was bringing a dog back from severe malnutrition. but over that i would use a good quality raw diet.
while it may not be a synthetic powder, i still prefer the ingredients in their ~natural~ form
    but that is just me

  3. I would suggest k-9 Super Fuel over that

Doesn't look to bad to me but I am allways too scared to try anything like that I just use good ol fashion hard work. I wonder if those even work, I bet they work just as well as get rich quick schemes. jmo.

They work, ive used them. But raw is better, and the dog is much healthier than any powder can do.:)

  6. I don't see where anybody suggested NOT combining a good workout with the supplements.

I have used it and liked it. I give it before we've got something 'big' coming up like a pull. I'll add it to their food for roughly 3 weeks before our pull. I don't do it before all pulls, just sometimes.

It's not like the dog goes from being a pos to looking like Lil Bit, but, I see some difference.

Most of what I see is their endurance. Maybe it's more of a mental thing on my part, but, I think I see a difference.

It's cost effective, i'd give it a try.

I always say the best thing for your dog is a good high quality feed, If you feeding good feed then the dog doesn't need any of that stuff.

When I see creatine and such in there I also get spooked by that, I like to keep things simple though.

Some did, But the majority believed in good hard work to get the most out of the animal.

The key ingredient is the creatine. You can get a better quality/better source with a better dextrose additive just about any where. Muscle up powder will work just as anything else will when combined with hard work. I can buy all the andro/D-bol in the world but until i get out of this recliner i will not look like the hulk. Dogs are no different. There is no supplement, trick of the trade or short cut that out performs good old (smart) hard work. s.

They didn't back then like today because of availability. The world of science/nutrition has exploded since 'back then' and there are so many things available to the sprts performance industry now that just were not available then. A lot came to light in the 50's and 60's with the swimmers from East Germany and the Russian lifters. It spread thru the human sports industry like wildfire, the the horse racers said let me give that a try...and it migrated to dogs.. I am not speaking solely of steroids, but all performance enhancers. I can buy things in the grocery store today that were not even thought of 20-25 years ago...s.

Muscle up has your regular regime of vitamins and two key ingrediants. 1. Creatine and 2. DMG

Creatine aids in the production of energy at the muscle cellular level. When the body demands energy to do work it takes ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and "spends" one of it's phosphate molecules and converting to ADP (adenosine diphosphate), the process of spending this molecule releases intracellular metabolic energy. Creatine creates an environment where ADP can take on a phosphate molecule and convert BACK into ATP to be spent again very efficiently. In laymens terms it floods the muscle with fluid allowing the cardiac capacity of the muscle to maximize...draw optimum amounts of O2 enriched blood, so more work can be done by the muscle.

DMG is an intermediate metobolic...it enhances energy and stamina, it is short term before the DMG is converted to another form of chemical compound...but you do get a good and quick bang for the buck.

So basically what this suppliment does is allow your animal to GAIN strength by maximizing the O2 enriched blood to the muscle, the DMG retards the by products of anaerobic muscle contraction (lactic acid...this is the stuff that collects in your muscle after a contraction and is characterized by the slang term "the burn")...too much lactic acid disables the muscle to be able to effectively continue as those who have felt it are well aware of.

This is a strength training aid.....a stack that is used a lot in the fitness industry. It works too! A good diet or feed does nothing but enhance it's effectiveness. My issue with suppliments like these is once you go off of them you quickly loose the gains the suppliment made possible.

What are your thoughts on MVP Supplements?

I wouldn't know because I have never used any supplements. I have always relied on genetics and hard work. I can't critique on something I have never used, nor can i say how well it works but normally people buy those expecting to bulk their dog up quick and it doesn't work. I don't disagree that you should combined a workout with the supplements. I was stating that on its own I doubt it would do much. JMO. Its not like I am a specialist on muscle up supplements.

I cruised around their web site...what is interesting is if you cruise the MHP website (check out their athletes, my friend Lisa Jackson is one) you will find a corollary for just about every MVP product to the human MHP product.....

The name of the stack in question is probably misleading...again it is a strength "building" aid, which would enable a bulking phase to follow if desired. NO SUPPLEMENT will bulk an animal without properly activating the muscle in conjunction with the supplement. The quickest "supplements" to aquire more muscle mass are anabolics, which again only enhance what ever genetics the athletes have to begin with.

In other words,if you have small legs and a large upper body and you decide to use steroids, you will still have smaller legs than your upper body UNLESS you train your legs heavier than you train your upper body so your legs can "catch up". You will see the benefit from this training the fastest using steroids.

The problem with any supplement designed to enable mass gains, is the user must be educated enough to know the connective tissues must be conditioned and protected first as well as the muscle must be strength trained first to be able to effectively bulk up without injury.

I would rather take my dog out there in the original state...my dogs only get multi vitamins...I call stuff like that the lazy mans way.
