i was told Ace needs to loose about 10-20 pounds..
i don't seem to have this problem with my other two dogs. He gets 4 cups of food a day, Maybe that's too much?
I tried to use the springpole to work him a bit,and he was on it for awhile, but his mouth was bleeding and i got scared.
I run him often on walks but never let him off leash to run
do you have some suggestions on how to help him loose the weight?
Also, When i adopted him, he was just under "Terrier Mix"
Do you think he has American Pitbull Terrier in him? Or American Bull Dog?

Cut the feed in half (what are you feeding), some flirtpole work and 3-5 miles of walking.

your pics are deceiving and the dog looks fine to me, not every APBT is going to look like a steroid injected body builder because genetics plays a big role.

anyways feed your dog like 2.5 cups a day an work him better.

    1st: What do you feed?

2nd: If it's junk from wal-mart, switch the feed and cut in 1/2.

3rd: A bloody mouth from the pole, atleast at my house, is pretty normal.

4th: If you can't walk ACE, get a treadmill. I live in snow-infested michigan. We use e-mills and I recently got a carpet mill (I know they suck, we'll see how this one does)

5th: Go on e-bay or www.weightpullharness.com and get a harness. Teach you boy to do some weightpulling. Great for 'building' muscle and buring calories.

I REALLY like your boys head and face. I agree, losing weight will help. Getting him on a good food (if his current food is garbage) will help tremendously!

carpet mills work fine if you want to tone and bulk up the dog otherwise a slat or emill is for stamina

4 cups seems like alot, i feed my 12 month old bitch 1 and a half cups of kibble, and i only feed kibble 2 times a week or so raw aswell, of leash fetch works a treat for my girl, some up hill fetches thrown in and your laughing.

I am with gorilla on this one, too! Some good advice you've gotten here.

If in doubt feed broth for quick trim down. its full of nutrients without excess energy, then start feeding at a lesser amount untill you find the best amount.

or just put him on a diet and training keep for the duration. plenty of easy good ones to choose from. and it will give you a feel for what dedicated dogmen go out of there way to do to get the dogs in primo condition ;)

actually a couple keeps a year does wonders for pet dogs.

dog looks fine to me. if you would like just cut his feed back a little and handwalk a little more. same combination that works for people works for dogs...less intake..more output...equals weight loss...but your dog looks nice...s

Cut Feed in Half - Exercise More - Fast him for a day a week (it wont hurt him)

Losing weight is simple, burn more calories than you intake. No fucking fad shit is gonna work, just eat less, exercise more, simple as that.

From those picts I doubt the dog could loose 20 lbs and be healthy, that isn't realistic IMO. Body type in itself is genetic. After that, proper good nutrition and exercise bring a dog to their full potential. Overall health of course also factors in to the appearance of the dog. I'd suggest making sure you are feeding a quality food, slightly adjust the amount you are feeding if needed, and do some plain old hand walking. Make sure your overall goals are realistic for this individual dog.
