Are you by chance an old George Chuvalo fan from the boxer, many years ago?

  3. Breedin on dead dogs seems like what has always been done depending on how u look at it. Looks like its all the same to me. Take the Mayday dogs.. Stack up Cuda, Lukane, Haunch, nCock Deisel and u still have urself a linebred Mayday dog. U just used what proved to b good sons of him. Mix in some Yellowman n some Machobuck and now ur into his grands.. Still mayday type dogs tho. Today ud b lookin at Curious George, or Angus Depot but you've barely changed the "formula". U looked to the present keeping the past in mind.. Now.. all them dogs were proven but there's another side of this fence. Cuda was stacked 3x's to get Freak who was also back bread to his mother to get 5x's Barracuda Freak Nasty who threw a CH Blade.. Stack Lukane n Haunch to get Mayhem who throws us a CH B.A. when crossed to a heavy Frisco bitch.. Some folks test some folks PROVE. Sometimes instead of get'n wraped up in if theres lights on in the ped, it might be better to contact the breeder snd see what they have to say about the dogs behind the one who's ped ur lookin at. Not everyone is into broadcasting their work. U might learn that there is a method to the madness and u might learn that they just like to watch dogs hump. All black peds dont always mean untested animals. And if ur chase'n a dead dog buyin Jeep or Mayday or Frisco dogs aint thst what everyone is doin? Aint all the new CH or GRCH representatives of their bloodline which is most likely named behind a dog of the past? .............OTW

HELLA, I understand the slant of your view and I have no argument with it.....HOWEVER............I just don't consider what you described as chasing dead dogs. What you are describing, to my thinking, is the stacking of many current dogs the qualities of which, many folks endear. They may happen to all be down from Mayday, yet the focus is on that nucleus of dogs and their qualities, not the recreation of Mayday. I don't see that anyone is doing exactly THAT.

What you described is not the chasing of an ancient dog for the sake of recreating its genes. THAT is what is commonly referred to as chasing dead dogs. Your slant "keys" upon select dogs of a certain lineage. And that's what I call it......Keying on quality dogs that happen to be from a basic lineage. Not "breeding backward", which to me, there is no such thing, but forward and keying on a certain nucleus of quality. So, while I see your slant with no qualms at all, I just really don't call the particular art of what you describe to be what most consider "Chasing dead dogs".

While I would applaud anyone who breeds excellent dogs in the way you describe, I won't applaud anyone who thinks they can recreate an ancient dog and his genes, AKA chasing dead dogs.

Yes sir I am. Even got to meet the man years ago when he visited the gym I use to box at. Hands the size of baseball gloves and the little neck I could see was thicker then my leg. All in all a true gentleman outside the ring and a warrior in. Not sure if your a fan or if you enjoy to read but he has a new bio out and it is a very informative and entertaining read.

Yes, I was a bit of a fan of his back in the day, CF. Gritty, tough, determined. and courageous against better talented men as one could get. Like a bulldog in my eyes back then. And as you said, a nice man outside the ropes. Thank you for your answer, CF and if you see old George, please tell him hello from an old fan. BTW, he could hit. ask my friend Jerry Quarry, RIP.

Agree with Naus. You might be, based on your intent. All I can suggest is to read my second signature quote. It's an original blurt from me, as I'm bad about making them. LOL But it may help you in your focus and future quality.

Jerry was another warrior of days gone by and often underrated, George Foreman has openly said he avoided meeting Quarry in the ring. Theres a pretty good bio out this past year on him as well :)

George's people openly said they feared for George's career after seeing what Jerry did to the much larger Mac Foster. Nice to hear someone knows that fact. I don't know many who do.

You make alot of sence, and I find myself in that situation. But my mindset is, Im banking on getting those traits from the sire, but thee son still has to prove that he can produce. The question is are you willing to shake the dice not breeding directly

And yet it maybe programmed to quit, would you want to breed to such an animal?

There is many reasons a person would breed a dog that hasn't been tested and one of the main reasons would be how difficult it is to get a dog bred a certain way from a certain breeder, I have been reading this thread and saw some mixed feelings but here is my take if I came across a person that has been breeding and maintaining his family of dogs for years with a high percentage of game dogs willing to sell/give me a pup heavily bred on his best dogs I would more than likely breed that dog untested his offspring would definitely be tested and culled

I think my finances comes to play in this situation...that being said with limited funds, I wouldnt gamble on breeding to an untested dog, but I will take a fully started b#%%h and tie with the performer. Thats just me

IMO it's all about opinions! Meaning to say that while one may feel he can't afford to breed the untested dog, another may feel that he can't afford not to breed one that hasn't been tested ( or tested hard). Like someone stated before, some will take a dog and maybe not test it at all or maybe not test it as hard for fear of loosing it..... Produce a few litters and test them hard when they have a bigger pool to draw from.

I believe trying to breed to dead dogs is a waist of time. You'll never get 1 pup because they are dead...lol

Even if you find something from the past, most likely it's water down so such it's worthless. Just breed 2 good dogs that compliment each other. Jm2c
