I like Sorrells dogs. I spent about a week down there (at Berts...not his x's) off and on, fed his dogs for a while, and after some time conversing with the man he said his bitch Bandit was the best producing dog he ever owned. According to him, most of his champions produced well, but Bandit was the only dog he ever owned that never threw a cur...and he has probably owned about 1000 dogs over the years. He was around for over 3 decades and often had over 100 dogs at a given time. I was there about 7 years ago or so I would guess...and he was pretty much beginning to retire "cut back" to only about 60 dogs or so. You have several dogs in your pedigree down from Bandit, but she is back there a good bit. Also, Bert was not a fan of the black dogs himself. I think his X ended up with Harley and a few of the others in your pedigree, although they would have had some good stuff behind them if they were bred the way the pedigree says.

Finally, Bert mentioned to me that "no real dog man reported their recipe exactly the way they were put together. Littermates were often used on peds, which was close, but full disclose wasn't always given for the best."

It looks to be a very solid old bred pedigree, but I will mention that his x did not end up with Harley or any of the other dogs in that ped. B sold Harley to a friend of his and did do more breedings with him after he was gone. As far as weight pull, the Sorrells dogs do very well, they are also able to do double duty as weight pull and conformation dogs if you so choose (more things to do at the ADBA shows is a great bonus :))

I mentioned that because I remember her advertising a black and tan a good bit. I couldn't remember if it was Harley or another Sorrells' dog.

It is good, they are competetive weight pullers, there have been many that are successful at the sport. They are also very good family dogs. Their want to please makes them a great choice for any task at hand. We will have a new weight puller this spring at the ADBA shows that is a pure sorrells dog and can't wait to see how well she does. I just mentioned that they also do well in conformation as I don't see anything wrong with a dog that can pull with the best of them that also looks good doing it. :)
