  4. Really interesting read would be made better if knew which part of the world ppl came from as the UK and USA opinions are gonna always differ down to the dogs we see day to day!

If I lived in America I would have a different view of what a stafford was and if you guys from America lived where I do you would assume staff to mean the type of dog that I see everyday. No need to argue too much about it just accept that it comes down to what you are used to seeing and accepting as a staff :)

i dont even see the sense of having staffs in a game dogs web site thay aint game any more thare useless fucks in all sense of the word.if you want a game dogs stick to whats made the grade stood the test of time the one and only apbt.no piont beeting about the bush about it at all.once in a blue moon you get a staff beeting a pitbull but the pitbull it beats is more than likely not even a good one.once upon a time staffs were good its a hard neck even calling that things walking the streets a staff its a disgrace to the real ones.

  6. From a working perespective you are absolutely right Reid, no one can argue the staff is a better working dog than the APBT as it just isnt. But would you say the same thing is happening to the APBT as has happened to the SBT in that it is being bred more and more as a pet cus thats what I see ppl wanting a dog that looks the part but will fit in with the family, a watered down version, which is why over here the rescues are packed with SBTs and in USA its same story for APBTS?

cant ever see the apbt going that way.thare maybe alot of pet ones but a bet more than a few of them still got the bottle to battle compared to staffs thay like to speak a good battle thats about it.

I think on both sides of the big pond there are two circles of dogs, the sporting men who breed and keep pure APBT's from tested dogs ,then there is a second circle who breed and keep them for looks size ,colour and use'ully dont have pure bred or dogs with very little history of their dog breeding useully more into showing and talking about their dogs...R

remember that the apbt was the american family-dog for several years - so I guess the same thing has happened to that breed. Off course there are some speciments that are still game, but when we are taking about the apbt as breed I will say that they are more "civilized" than the old pitdogs.

in some cases more civalised yes.but pitdog men would breed for sound dogs in the pit with the handler and thats why the likes of chinaman should not have been bred thay were man agresive but obviously the good out waigh the bad hence why he was bred.

And I have seen some APBT´s get their ass wiped by Staffords, the point being?

This is actually a really stupid topic. There is only one difference between the "breeds"! Just ONE. How many Staffords breeders can you name that ever had 20 dogs or more at the same time? But on the other hand, how many APBT kennels can you name over the decades that has had 50, 100 or even up to 300 hundred dogs on their yards? If people wont understand that difference...

Even tough the Irish claimed to import better dogs, to this date they still need to import new dogs on reguluar basis, one of the reassons are the fact that they keep pretty small yards. But there are perhaps other reassons too. So in my book it does not mather if the Irish would have started out with the absolute best stock you could imagine of american dogs, they would still need to import new dogs on reguluar basis and that stock would not have lasted either. There are not many lines that have been constantly bred over 20-30 years in Ireland and in the UK.

There are very few genuine Staffords left! Most of the so called Irish dogs are bred by peddlers and pedigree fanciers that just try to stack famous names as many times as possible in their often enough faked pedigrees! So considering the small gene pool I am amazed that there still are game Staffs, and occasionally Staffs that can win against good comp. This proves in my mind that the stock atleast where top notch at one point or another. And if people would have continued breeding them instead of jumping on the american bandwagon, they would have been at a top level today.
