Shit, not long ago at the corner store around the corner there was a guy that was in the store waiting in line to purchase something and some drunk guy came in the store and started picking on the customer in line and started hitting him. They started fighting a little bit outside and the original customer reached in his car and grabbed his pistol and let the drunk have it. Killed him right there on the spot. No charges at all. Of course he went in for a interview and it was sent to grand jury....but no charges. Stories similar to that all over. Just like AGK said, depends on the state you live in.

I went to High School with a kid who decided him and his friend were going to rob a country fair store here. The store owner shot and paralyzed him as he was running out the store with the loot. Store owner got 10 years.. This place used to be a quite town a good one to raise a family in but it has went down hill rapidly the last 8 years. Gun Murders daily, kids shooting kids, armed home invasions daily. Kind of depressing actually, especially if you have kids. I do remember that incident about the guy shooting his mother thinking it was a raccoon.

Chicago probably should start letting Texans come and kill violent criminals there. It'll be like the Purge, just cleaning up the streets of the Chi.

Yeah, his garage must be REALLY big, too. I'm pretty sure I could tell a raccoon from a opossum from any distance inside my garage. Let alone a mother-in-law.

I reckon the sheriff probably didn't like her any more than her son-in-law did. lol

Right on AGK, didn't kno they made a smaller model of the sr9.

Treez, I hear ya on sending a message, though I'd rather send 1 dead intruder rather than innocents. Them7.62 aint no joke.

BK a gauge would be best I suppose, though knowing your build.I'd say yes i ya get one gonto the range and familiarize yourself with it. When concerning gauges it's the kick and reload situations that may be your biggest obsticle.

Treez I remeber one yr long ago I was living with my inlaws in a Rival neighborhood. It was new years and earlier there was a crowd outside as I walked my hound. They seen me knew who I was and got pushed out of shape. Later that night they were popping off their pea shooters. Being I was in a rival hood and I was no longer active my spot was the ARMORY. LOL I decided to make that impression you speak of. Needless to say after a few hundred rounds and about 1 1/2Hrs of shooting non stop , no more wreckless eyeballng when I walked by. Lol

In another note the neighborhood kids were yelling DO IT AGAIN ESSAY! LMAO KIDS!

Here in Ca you have to watch how you shoot if you shoot somebody, any sign of them fleeing and it's you in the pen. Watch the movie Felon with Val Kilmer, it's based on a true story.

Here in TX, they just want the criminals dead lol they don't care where you shoot them. Knowing she stays in the HTown area and knowing robbery/car jacking is a big problem there, I'd say to get a handgun first so you can defend yourself at home and in the car. My second purchase might be a shotgun. Aint gonna lie, I don't have a shottie right now. I have .223, 7.62, etc to choose from. I keep my XD 40 with the crimson trace laser on my night stand, night next to the AK. I have a couple stashed in each room so know matter where I am, I have a few within reach and one on my hip. I'd rather have them and not need them vs need them and not have them.
