    LOL at AGK and Ronald....

Cajun, that rifle may serve you better without the scope. The iron sights are pretty good out to about as far as she can shoot, anyway. Your mileage may vary....

    always carry, never tell.

screw the mall ninja shit, add-ons to a firearm make it an inefficient tool. obnoxious scopes, pistol grips on shotguns, folding stocks and all the like do you no good when it's go time (although a good optic really helps you reach out and touch something with a bolt action rifle).

practicing regularly in varied conditions, never wasting a repetition, working on your draw, those are the things that matter when push comes to shove.

i'm in the market for another holster, looking for a new OWB hybrid holster since summers get hot and humid here, and an untucked polo is the only thing that doesn't print on me since I'm lanky.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

My personal favorite for C.C.. is the Judge! 45 Colt X 410 self defense load! Carried A Bulldog 44 Spc. for years, but just to heavy! Fix'n to order A Henery 41 Mag. for Alaska! My son carries A Dan Wesson 41 Mag. as A side arm when hunting Alaska so I can have him reloaded for me.

Pistol grips on semiauto shotguns ain't so bad. I got a Catamount, Saiga type AK shotgun, I'm thinkin about converting to AK layout. P grip, move trigger forward. Should be more awesomer than it is now lol

Get a Catamount Fury or Fury 2! Saiga knockoffs since no more Saiga imports. It's not quit as "tight" as a Saiga, but just as awesome... Once you get the load right. Some have had problems with low brass ammo, others shoot it all! Check YouTube. Yes I see the date of the post.... Just helpin a dogger out!

High points are junk. Don't know about the others.

Personal protection is not an area that I'd be willing to be cheap with. A decent handgun will run you around 400 on up. For the price of a pup you could get into something a bit more reliable. JM2C

What would you recommend for me to keep around the house and in the truck?

Tarus raging bull. You could look like Dirty Harry pulling that thing on someone

There are so many choices. I know 2 females who carry Ruger Lcp 380's and they love them. The only downside of a .380 is its a small caliber but more than likey if you would ever need to use it you would be with in 10 feet of an attacker. Load it with Hydra-shok rounds and it will make up for that small caliber in knock down power at closer range. I like 9mm myself. Simply because it has very little recoil which is important when shooting multiple times accurately and with the right round in it, it has plenty of knock down power. Plus the rounds themselves are cheap. If I were you Vicki and was interested in getting a gun I would go to a gun store and feel the guns in your hand. Go with the one that feels like it was made for your grip. They all feel different in your hand. I went with a SR9C Simply because I am left handed and It has an ambidextrous slide saftey. When I picked up the gun it felt like it was made specifically for my hand. So I bought it. Love that piece. Smooth shooting, accurate and very little recoil to it.

Ruger makes a compact 9mm that holds 8 rounds. It's about the size of a standard .380 with the bigger round. I'll have to check to see the exact model

I love mine. Bought that same model twice.

Magazine are 10 rounds or 17. Very compact with the 10 in it.

Lol that's what happens when you don't read entire post. I acquired mine in a trade a few years back lol I guess when I get to eight I don't wanna fool around with it anymore. I like for the size, it fits in an inside the pocket holster pretty easy and isn't bulky at all

It does conceal very well indeed. Im 160lbs. at 6 ' tall and with my Alien Gear IWB holster and the 10 round magazine the gun, it don't print on me at all.
