We back tie our dogs with a 25ft bungee cord doubled over. And well use a flirtpole or bite sleeve or bite suit depending on the dog.it don't take much to wear them out.it also helps the dog to come in harder when not back tied.so on a send out.my 105lbs corso bitch will throw her body at the decoy now because she felt the tension before hand and it also keeps her fat ass in shape.she's the type that gets out of shape quick if not exercised...

late 80s i got into building them and racing. 2wd buggies and trucks as well as flat pan on-road cars.
i had a 1/10 scale Bolink that would run a legit 55 mph.
thats a good idea, but could get costly real quick

I have them chase the quads/sleds and swimming/fetch are a huge part of their regimen. before my bitch dropped her litter she was terrified of water.. now for some reason i cant keep her out of it? i throw multiple sticks in at a time making her swim all around and fetch everyone before swimming back to shore. she LOVES it.

I walk my dogs up a decent sized hill and have 1 of my dogs hooked up to a pulling harness, which drags a small car tyre.
Also i find swiming at the beach a great work out.
i have a large peice of hide which my dogs play tug-0-war with each other aswell.

Just figured i'd bring it back up. I'm bored haha. Someone on here posted a link before but if your dog likes to pull, then get some rollerblades and let him go at it. But ya, the more they know how to do the funner it can be. Swimming, rollerblading, spring pole, fetch, handwalking, all kindsa stuff.

i let one of my dogs run after shooting water from a hose. so it's kinda like a flirt pole, except pretty unusual i guess. it's working better than the flirt pole on that dog of mine too.

mike916 I do the laser also. I take mine to a fenced in baseball field at night so its no to hot and he chases the hell out of the laser. its good for sprint work and fun for the dog. the only bad thing is if you do it to much the dog will think he can chase every light he/she sees. i only do this every once and awhile because of that. since i feed raw I work him after the treadmill and i will tie a chicken quarter up high and make him jump till he gets it. I put it just out of reach if he dopesnt get it within 20-30 tries i give it to him lol a little cruel, but it works his hind legs with his natural weight.

I used a laser too, worked WELL - but my dog would whip himself into a frenzy over it and I had to give him something to bite or he'd get pissed for a good while over it.

Does ratting count as an unusual exercising method?

If I'm just working him to make him tired, I make him do awkward tricks - like holding himself on his hind legs, sitting with his front paws up, holding strenuous poses. If I'm getting him in shape he gets the usual flirtpole, springpole, swimming, handwalking, running... I make him pull or retrieve heavy things and swim distances with them, I actually taught him to 'punch' the body bag I have, he wanted to bite it but I got him to not use his teeth - now he jumps up and shoves it with his front legs and does that for a while, it does actually tires him out a little.

You guys should try it lol.....not!

  18. Laser pointer works great...got a 20 foot lead and go to a baseball diamond not far from home at night...surface is dirt/gravel/sand mix and really good traction-wise. Dogs go nuts for the damn laser pointer. Also something to try that's a monster workout and a good time is buy you a remote control plane...get good at it and let the dog chase it. Mine destroyed a buddy's plane not long ago but it's a small price to pay for foaming at the mouth fun.

nothing makes a dog run/swim his hardest when theres lead flying overhead.

  20. Take him to the Golf course or pond and allow them to run and swim after geese. If you want to tire them out, well this will do. Used to know someone that would let there dogs chase rabbits and squirrels while pulling some weight. He would swear by it.
