maybe a newb question, but curious if you can have and indication how big a pup will get by its weight at 4 months?

my 14wk pup is 13lbs, curious if anyone remebers thier pups weight at that age and how big they were once mature.

    thanks

At about 9 weeks mine was 15lbs and he is gettin weighed tomorrow at 4 months so I'll let you know

Seems like your pup might run on the smaller size when he is done growing

    <table><tbody><tr> <td class="artext">Hope this helps
Can I estimate how big my puppy will get?
</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="artext">Puppies at different ages grow at different rates, and puppies of different breeds grow at different rates. [IMG]To estimate the size of dog your puppy will grow up to be, use the chart on the right. Find your dog's age, and then draw a line straight up until you find your dog's weight. Then follow the nearest curve or make an imaginary one and follow it over to 30 months of age. Read the corresponding weight for that age. This will approximate the weight your dog will be at adulthood. Remember, this is only an estimate.
Generally, an adult dog will weigh about twice as much as he did when he was 4 months of age; giant breeds will double what they weighed at 5 months.

Don't quote me but I think I remember reading that at 16 weeks, double their weight and that will be their full grown size (or close to it).

I weighed my guy at 16 weeks and he was 26lbs. He is now 16 Months old and weighs 50lbs. So I think it's a good indicator but not the end all be all.

13lbs at 14 weeks. Wow, that should be about a 30 some lber I'm guessing.

Yes looks like your pup will be at the desired weight you want so I wouldn't worry about that:)

4 months and double it sounds about right but I'm going to test it out.

LOL one of my boys was weird, he was 32# at 5 months old and we're like wth!?!?!? Then at 16 months old he was still the same. However, when he reached 24 months of age, the boy was 44# and around 2-3 inches taller at the withers. He went through a sudden growth spurt. Nothing is standard and it all has to do with genetics. The dog's endocrine system, specifically the pituitary gland that secretes growth hormones dictates your dogs size. However, with condition, you can increase musculature and cut fat.

They are usually pretty close to half of their adult weight at 4.5 mos old.
