Is it a good idea to only feed 6 days a week to clear the guts out of raw meat etc?

 

If you keep your dogs a little heavy,then it should not be a problem missing a meal for them.In the wild they do not eat seven days a week.

It also give their digestive system a break. Raw is harder to digest anyways and they do do it every single day in the wild so i think its a good idea and i do it.

 

Thats the way i see it.I also like to let the dogs go without before worming,is this a good thing to do?

Yeah but if you only feed kibble you dont have to do it every week. You can but the Raw food is harder to digest even when you add yogurt and such.

 

So the day you miss out would it be at the end of the week or in the middle or does it not matter..

 

I would not say that Raw is harder to digest than kibble.A dog is ment to eat Raw meat,kibble is just easy to digest b/c it has been cooked the hell out of,that's why they spray vitamins on it just after cooking.Any day just let six days pass before you skip.

 

What age can you start fasting?

 

For me lot less than 18 month's.

 

i would not fast a dog that was getting heavy work though.

 

Yes but they arent meant to eat it everyday and meat is harder to digest.
Age depends on the individual dog, sometimes b4 12-16 months. 18 months to be on the safe side.
True, i wouldnt fast a dog in a keep or that is being worked hard. Dog will need the nutrition for recovery and energy.

In the wild wolves gorge themselve's on a large kill until they can't eat no more. Then they spend the next time period digesting this meal, and because have eaten so much they don't often need to hunt again for a day or three. When they have digested the meal they go out and hunt again.

We human's regulate our dog's feed, but in no way do we ever give him the amount as a wolf would eat at a large kill. So there's no real need to fast a dog.

 

Bc in the wild animals dont eat everyday lol
They dont say "6pm time for dinner"
NOT the way it works!
Plenty of ppl feed raw everyday with no complications, not a big deal
Its just another precaution i use to attempt to optimzie health

So if you feed Kibble you can still skip a day once a week?

 

OK,We have different views on fasting but how many days should i fast for before worming?

 

I always fast adult dogs for 1 day a week unless a bitch in whelp.
