ive said it before and i'll say it again,i'd take a 'meatball on legs' with heart over any conformationaly 'correct' dog any day.

you missing the point, i've heard this several times, short legged kegs arent up to par to well balanced stafford, proven over and over before my eyes and others.
comformationally correct dogs dont exist, performance first beauty second, i give you that.

i'm yet to see one stafford you favor impress me, i'm nobody so it should be easy to satisfy me. not yet though. toned muscles, barking and showing teeth dont mean a thing.

a short dog may have heart for couple of minutes until the moment of truth.

persuasion, heart and stamina are very important when breeding. things that most of these low slung, barrell chested pug face staffords lack, defeating their desire of working.

i wouldnt feed one even if it was the last one on earth, but that's my opinion and you know what they say about'em.

Your right, today's staffords are a shame!!! They are way to compact and short, much prefer the leggier leaner look!! But that's just my opinion...

Some i see now days look to conform more to bulldogs with really big chests, but I WOULD STILL FEED IT IF IT WAS THE LAST THING ON EARTH lol what can i say

I'd still like to see wel bred right in between one. Can't help it, like the big head and pronounced cheeks.... but also like the ripped lean and mean body of the workers... but not the very light ones. hard to explain..... especailly after a few brews.
    cheers

    Game dogs have to be:

    1) durable

    2) Intense

    3) Willing

two out of three aint bad but you wont win any money on them. A Game dog has to DEMONSTRATE all three to win and repeat it to be a Champion.

Now take an honest look at your dogs and make a decision: FEED or PTS

makes me laugh, i dont think lads who rely on staffords are that worried about the state of little fat show/pet stock......good luck to them all.......*

i cant disagree, with that, but doubt your outcrosssed dog de boardeaux would cut the mustard,......sorry just saying..50 - 60lb..................

i love it, staffs are fine , as are pitulls, it isnt the dogs but the people you need to worry about, its always the people, when they go ,................. so do the dogs.

  11. benthere,
Why would it take hundreds and hundreds of good phsycal specimins? To start a breeding programme!

it would take going through hundreds and hundreds to find stock worthy of breeding though plus you would want a decent gene pool to choose from as some would have undesirable traits.

why go through all that when there is a breed out there now..called American Pit bull terrier...they at one time one and the same breed , when the KC got their hands on them transformed their shape, character, and after 80years being bred for looks instead ability and gameness..you have a shell of what they once ware..just my opinion..R

its called dilligence and perseverance. why people should give up on staffords. there are plenty out there better or just as good as any apbt. and guess what they are KC registered!
i've heard you talk few times about apbt on this side lowering the stafford as a whole, as if they were inferior.
if an apbt it's what suits you or the crossings of it, i think the apbt forum side would appreciate your comments towards the breed.
i dont care if you owned a famous dog(s) in the past, it seems you were cut short, there's nothing worth feeding around you, or you just gave up on staffords and you are looking for an easy way out.

  18. RickyB,
IMO anyone supporting apbts should also support staffords, there is great history to both these, that any dogman should respect.

Staffords are better at doing what ?,winning at KC shows, running out of steam, so you want me to go, and not comment just because you don't like what I say, as abreed staffords are inferior to pitbulls when it comes to shows..I never bred any staffs or crosses, I have plenty worth feeding

I ask you ,what have you got that worth feeding? some pet in the back garden that you THINK would compare to a pitbull.....R
