I totally agree witcha, Congoman! The key iz the B!TCH... Whether, WE like it or NOT... Peolpe alwayz talk bout dem STUDS... But, where doez them b!tches com n2 play?

For instance "HONEYBUNCH"... She waz bred 2 a "HANDFUL" of males... & PRODUCED her azz off:) Do U blieve it waz juz the MALES throw'n all of dat? I dont think so... If, U culd "ROM" a b!tch n juz a few breedingz;) I blieve ur on 2 somth'n "GREAT":) I sure n the "HELL" waz... Off my 1st litter... But, 2 IMMATURE 2 understand all of this n the beginning like others... hehehe!

Believe me I'm glad I was "schooled out" myself before I got my own animals. Yeah I've made mistakes but not the ones that a beginner would have had to go through. I also got a whole lot of help when I was getting everything going.

I've also seen litters where the pups come out looking, acting, and working like the female but the people give all the credit to the stud. There are aot of guys that breed real tight animals that don't have a drive to work at all. The brood dogs have to be able to work. If they can't work I have no point in breeding them. Inbred, linebred, or out crossed a non working animal is a non working animal and should be treated as such.

I think that this was Mr Carver's way of breeding, thats why his peds are the way they are, don't give it away.Lets take Black Widow for ie if her ped is true, the quality of her off spring. She was bred back to her grandsire and look at their get and the quality of their get and so on down the road. How do I know this I don't as I was not there. All it takes is a little common  to see these things.Males produce females, females produce males if you can understand this you will see where your good stud dogs are coming from.JMO.

I think its a common problem that u see way too much...people worry about breeding to proven studs but will breed a bitch for any reason...the studs throwing fire...the bitchs per or what ever but like congo said they both contribute and some times you can tell by there looks or attitudes they.got more from the bitch. Imo u get a good proven bitch and if she can produce herself or hopefullly better you can build your whole yard off that bitch.

Lot of truth to building off of a female, of course she was bred to a proven male, but I give the credit to her.

This was what started my line and have stayed with it until now:

  13. With all this said... When did the core look away from the bitches... My G always told me keep a hard eye on the DOGS. Not just the males... Especially if the female is drop'n a higher % of dna on the pups, no matter how slight. She has other influences on the pups as well in the 6-8 weeks she's raising them... More attn needs to be given to the bitches being bred as far as best to best goes. Just cuz she if off of the champ don't make her qualified.. Champs throw curs too. Breed...raise...cull...repeat...

very interesting post garth-ive noticed that some greyhound breeders will take a good bitch to a father son and grandson,as far as i know its the hen (female) that determines sex in birds (not sure) rather than the male x or y sperm in mammals-so opposite =the same (maybe)

offspring of the best producing female greyhound of modern timeshttp://www.greyhound-data.com/d?breedpoints=269133&z=H3ePJS

(larkhill jo,droopys kewell and droopys scolari were a father, son, and grandson)

Wats up guys, Im a new member that just so happen to stumble across this thread. All of the info and opinions are very very useful. because a buddy of mine is breeding heavy bred Yellow 2/Cowboy stuff this month and i plan to get a female from this litter. She will be tested thoroughly. If she does it. I will start my yard of her. Then i will breed her back to her grandsire, then from there Testing will be dne on all pups and so on..... great theory though!! good shit by the way Furious ford!!!

    N slim1972 you sharp!!

HOGWASH. Pure and simple. They will be a good mother if you nurture the dog properly. It doesn't matter a bit what kind of "rigorous" sporting activity
Don't put the dog on a chain and expect her to give birth in crappy conditions etc. Of course she will freak out and either eat or bury them alive.

I DO NOT claim to know everything, but just reading this quote made me, NO FORCED me to ask this question... If you say breeding best to best is the way to go, what are you really breeding??? What if you have a Chinaman stud thats you best, do you breed him to your best gyp regardless of how she is bred??? And if you do that, are you breeding does scattering the blood even matter to you??? You tried to come back and clean it up, unfortunately, IMO, these two statements contradict each other... JMO
