Looks good to me. What does the vinegar do and does it take them awhile to eat it?

I use the DE food grade from earthworks.com in their food daily. Put it in their bedding and on their coat too. I was wondering why the cider/vinegar too. I looked at the ingredients in the clovite and most are already found in a lot of foods out there.

and what exactly is it (the fossil shell flour) i just googled it and like yardboy says i see applications for it as sort of a pest control too or something other than just a food supplement

  9. The ORGANIC (with "the mother") apple cider vinegar has a shit ton of health benefits, whether it's for a dog or for me and you. Google it sometime there's so much this stuff impacts, from the coat to the energy level, to helping keep the fleas and ticks out, to boosting the immune system, and the list goes on. As for the DE, it acts primarily as a natural de-wormer, essentially cycling through the digestive system and tearing up any asshole parasite it runs across along the way. Keeps them guts nice and clear, I have also read that it acts as a colon cleanser type of thing, loosening up the muck in there along the way. No rotation of chemical wormer, DE gets em' all, no intestinal parasite is safe!

Right now I feed (twice a day) one red plastic beer cup (high tech measuring system) of TOTW, one and a half teaspoons of DE, three teaspoons of Clovite, a teaspoon and a few extra drops of the apple cider vinegar and wet it up real good. I can't say what part of that equation does it, but the dog will eat the bowl up and lick that sumbitch spotless. Guess it's just a good flavor combination for em'.

I'm no health & nutrition guru but this seems in theory like a good system and it has produced great results for me so far. I'm sure I will tweak the recipe along the way, maybe adding some fish oil in the mix I've been thinking...but I wanted to see what folks thought of my gumbooooooooo.

it sounds like good food , but i wound add fat to it . deer meat and bison does'nt have fat . you can get it at the grocery store , ask the butcher . i feed deer meat to . in the winter if you live in a area with alot of huntering , ask the processors at the butcher shops if you can have the bones . there will be alot of meat lefted on them the bones
. trim it and freeze it to save money .

DE is claimed to not only kill internal parasites, but kill any insect that comes in contact with it. it's also claimed to help arthritis pain, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure and improve hair and nail health in people. I take it myself. I got a 50lb. bag from Earthworks for $27.50. the shipping cost more than the product. Just make sure it says food grade because some of it may contain chemicals if you don't

They sell that DE stuff at my local feed store. Does it work pretty good on tape worms?

They claim it works well on ALL internal parasites. It does seem like a bold claim but if you go to earthworks.com they have a video you can watch that goes into great detail. I can't say it's proven to get rid of tapes to me because they were free of tapes before I started using it but I noticed a difference in how i felt myself from using it. wish it was local here, the shipping was $33.00!!!!!

  16. FOOD GRADE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH OR YOU WILL HAVE A SICK/DEAD DOG ON YOUR HANDS. The "other kind" is used for many different things, none of which involve consumption by man, woman, child or beast. Order from Amazon, shipping was not too bad...definitely not more expensive than the product! I bought I think a 5 pound bag of it and the stuff will last forever. I really stand behind this product, from all of the research I did it sounded too good to be true, but it appears to be doing what it claims. Nothing wrong with letting Mother Nature handle the parasites!

ReleaseTheHounds and bgblok68, thanks yall I put a little bit of thought into what I wanted to feed...and I intend to add some supplemental fat old goat, just trying to figure out which route I want to go to make that addition to the mix.

ngo, thanks man...I told you no corner cutting and no bullshitting! Feedin' good, workin' hard. The decent diet I'm working with plus the miles on the road are looking good so far!

STDC my son bought a 50 lb bag of FOOD GRADE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH for 28 bucks. Been close to two years and it dont look like we've put a dent in it. We only use it in the feed though, not around the yard. I use different oils every couple of days. Between coconut, olive, wheat germ, rice and what ever else I run across thats a good deal at the time. Red Cell is good to. Gonna try Chia seed soon. Been reading nothing but good about it. My brother is taking/eating it and he likes the results so I figure I'll try it on the mutts. lol

It all looks good to me except for the Clovite. The first 2 indgred. are soybean meal and soybean oil. I avoid soy in my dog food so why would I add it in a supplement. What does it do that your quality feed doesn't already do?

I was thinking of trying Salem on that TOTW. I'm having a bit of a problem finding a food I'm happy with her on so it's good to see what her siblings are doing well on as it might be something that works for her. :)
