Man accused of feeding parakeet to pit bull

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A Wichita man faces animal cruelty charges after police say he drunkenly fed a live pet parakeet to his pit bull following an argument.

Police say the bird belonged to the children of a woman with whom the 30-year-old man lives. The Wichita Eagle reports the man allegedly broke the parakeet's wing before feeding it to his dog early Tuesday.

A police report says the man and woman argued after he came home drunk. The woman called 911, angering the man and prompting him to take the pet bird and give it to the pit bull.

The report says four people saw the bird being eaten by the dog.

  2. Khanfueshus says cruelty is in the eye of the beholder, what might be deemed cruel to some might not be for others. Some people even think that a Weight Pulling competition (dogs pulling heavy weights) is cruel so its basically ones own opinion and not a actual fact. Yet some people (hsus, peta) like to claim there opinions as facts. In todays society animal welfare concerns seem to be out weighing and or over shadowing human welfare concerns where our priorities are out of order.

What does any of that have to do with the above story? Breaking a bird's wing and feeding it to a dog is pretty clearly animal cruelty. Would you break your dog's legs and feed it to a lion?

  4. The guys a fucking turd

  5. What I wrote is more of a general statement but it does pertain to the story as well.

It would depend if I had access to a lion LMAO.

Pfftt.... it's cruely to the KIDS that owned the damn bird. Some asshat pulled that shit with my kids pets they wouldn't have to worry about ''animal cruelty'' charges. They'd have to worry about ME!

  7. If that happened to my kid's bird...I'd be charged with animal cruelty for feeding that so called human waste to my dog!!!

to me animal cruelty means to make animal suffer against its will.
i doubt the bird felt much if it just got fed straight to it,so didnt really suffer, the mans still a c*nt though.

I'm not even reading this fur mommy trash simply based on the heading ...

By rule there is no such thing as Animal Cruelty ever!!!!

It's ridiculous, it's voluntary use of a protein source to take care of animals...

I will not reread this post... I have one statement to make, rights protect man and children... Animals have no rights it is by my decision that I would never hook up battery cables to a car battery and then connect them to my dog, while hosing him down with cold water so it takes longer for him to simmer!!!! That is because I'm not a scumbag but if someone else wants to do it and let me watch thats their choice!!!

    : )

By LAW there is such thing as animal cruelty, it is a realty. However, this was posted with the intentions of a an intellectual debate. I posted the "Title". What you are saying is, that the extremely intelligent male in this story, who came home drunk, observed that his dog wasn't fed at his normal evening dining time. So, rather than feed his pet dog his normal diet of, oh, let's say kibbles and bits, reached into a nearby bird cage, that belonged to the children of whom he resides, broke the wing and fed it to the dog, live...because the kibble and bits weren't providing enough protein for the dog. Bravo! Parakeet protein! Crisis averted, dog will now have enough protein to live tonight due to the intelligence and foresight of his incredibly thoughtful, intoxicated owner.

And if you think standing and watching someone electrocute their dog, while pouring water on it, exempts you from the scumbag list, you are monumentally mistaken. Your self absorbed ideals are ignorant and down right stupid. You wouldn't step up and offer this dog a humane death, you would stand there and watch it be electrocuted? Have you ever in your life seen any living creature being electrocuted? It is a horrific, painful way to die, YOU are alive to the very end, you feel everything, right down to the very last breath and beat of your heart. You burn from the inside out. You are just as much a scum bag as the company that would do that to their dog in your presence.

A protein source to keep an animal alive is a rat to a snake.

    : )

This is how I think the story above went , the guy came home and found out for the 100th time that the kids did not feed the dog again so he said if yall cant even feed the friggen dog then ya cant have a friggen bird problem solved dog got his meal and bird was gone like the saying killing 2 birds with one stone LMAO.

Your second sentence is all your opinion. With that said I also agree with what Americandogman wrote but thats just my opinion lol. Facts are that electrocution is still done to this day to humans yet people get so SHOCKED when its done to animals? lol@shocked. I didnt know there was a list for scumbags? lol

As of 2008, the only places in the world which still reserve the electric chair as an option for execution are the United States of Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. Six out of fifty states, and it's an option for inmates to select, that or lethal injection.

Others have deemed death by electrocution cruel and unusual punishment.

As far as the second paragraph being all my opinion, answer me this. Have YOU seen someone or even any living creature being electrocuted to death? You want to argue that it's not a painful death? You ARE alive to the end, you are conscious, you hear and feel everything. Death by electrocution is cruel, it's painful.

Last electrocution was done in 2010, wether it is a option or not its still acceptable and done today and it was mandatory in most states in the past.

My point wasnt about if it was painful, its about why is it acceptable for humans to electrocute and kill other humans but NOT animals?

What have I seen? You wouldnt want to know lol.

3mta3, I think you've been watching too much Green Mile lol.

    Ok couldn't help myself!

Slavery was a law too! Doesn't mean it was right!! or made anysense!

    wow personal attacks!!

Mischaracterization of what I said!! However, with this logic watching NatGeo or Animal cops or a documentary on violence against animals outside of an academic setting i.e. your living room; for entertainment or curiosity; would make someone a scumbag as well!

comparing humans and animals is absurd! you wouldn't put a collar around your best friends neck or lock them in a crate or make them crap outside or take them to a show, or train a human with a prong collar!! I'm surprised you can't see the slippery slope! I respect your opinion; I would ask you really think about mine before judging it!

PS Saiyagin made excellent points; I just wanted to add a few : )

PS you also wouldn't make your human friend crap on newspaper or be your dinner or lunch or breakfast for that matter!
    Either animals are the same as humans and should go to school and we should incorporate and act like them including communicating with them on equal turns and give them property rights or their food and property themselves;
Being in between will get you run over!

Ex. Van Jones former presidents green jobs czar! Fighting for animals and mother natures right to sue in court!! Who's more dangerous to your way of life!!??

i really dont give a shit about the bird, its sad he did it in front of the kids, but IF the problem was the kids not feeding the dog,
maybe the dumbfuck should do what most grown men do and FEED HIS OWN FUCKING DOG
