How valuable is a dog with no papers?

I did'nt read all the posts, but in my opinion, the most important things to consider when purchasing a dog is this. In order:

Do I like the dog or the parents?
    Do I trust the seller/breeder

If I worried about papers, it would have limited the amount of bulldogs that I have owned. Just because a dog does'nt have reg. papers does'nt meen you don't know how there bred.(If you can trust the owner/breeder).

I have had several people with very nice bred registered bitches, breed to my unregistered stud dog, only based on the dog himself and the fact that Im not full of shit.lol.

That's really spot on, therefore I say I will only believe the peds written by the men I trust. Registered or unregistered, only few men I really trust with peds. Limey, poorly bred specimens get registered peds dude and here it ups the Rand value.
Many moons ago I also registered dogs from South Africa all the way over in the USA and trust me most ingnoramuses were more than impressed that my dogs were registered in the States and also willing to pay plenty more. Fortunately I'm always honest in my dealings and also never sold any dogs. Now I wouldnt register any of my dogs, as long as I know how they are bred and if I have pups, I give them to worthy candidates free-of-charge.

  3. You are the exception to the rule. Most are not as honest nor as above board.

how do you get better papers!?.
. ecetera . ofcours you cann conn and cheat but it wil be a hell of a lot cheaper not to fool around ADBA papers .. also ADBA hase aoption of DNA profiling these days.. so il stick to adba papers and DNA profiling....

the papers don't mean a thing. A good dog is a good dog. if you like what you have SEEN and not what you have heard get. Your eyes never lie.

simple , you may of had a dog that had better ped and use them . people are tricky . i don't sell so i don't need DNA . i know what i have . but you guys can sale them . it's ok because someone has to . it's just silly to think you can cheat and DNA is crazy to do .

you can cheat . and DNA i crazy because it's not going to tell you if you 3 -4-5 generation were correct only the dogs they have in the data base . and they have another data base you sure don't want you dogs being checked .

Thats pretty much how we do it in NZ we don't have any UKC or ADBA. Our registry that we DO have is pretty messed up.

see i still don't sell dogs so it does'nt matter to me . and they have a DNA data base here that will cause trouble . even to people that did'nt do anything . if you breed 1 and someone does things they should'nt . they want go to them they will come to the person that has that DNA on record .

The sad fact is if you didnt breed them you dont know really, That said All my dogs have paper and I know how they are bred I really try to deal with honest people, The truth is when people hang paper and lie and breed junk they only hurt them selfs. the way to breed good dogs is be honest with your self. But if I go and buy a dog you better belive I want to know how they are bred and If the dog is paper hung I want to know how the dog is really bred. Its a pain in the ass when you make a dog and you dont know how its bred. I dont care how good it is If I dont know the truth be hind the dog I aint wasting my time.

Fake Peds! True Peds! Good dogs are where you find them!!!!!
Sure but if I consider myself a breeder a dog that I don´t know of his ancestry must be the best one I´ve ever seen in my entire life to breed to him.
Just my oppinion! As for Peds, well I sign them, I stand in with my name for what is written there.
So if I do care about my credit and if I´d care to be considered an honest man then why the hell should I fake peds?
Sure pedigrees ain´t the only issue within a dog but considering they ain´t hung or faked then it would be a usefull tool for further planning within a breeding program.
So there have been some outstanding dogs out there that no one ever knew how trhey´ve been bred but what did they ever produced that is still arround and of importance today.
Considering the recent times in europe there ain´t much papered dogs for a certain reason but the ancestry is known and if you buy a pup they are often handwritten handed out to you but not registered within ADBA or other registries.
    That´s a big differnce........

Without going and reading through this whole post, papers aren't as important as everyone thinks.... If a certain breeder is having success with what he is breeding 9 out of 10 times he is not gonna register the dogs how they are bred for the fear of letting out his secrets..... That being said, get dogs from people you know and trust. IMO, papers are for peddlers anyway. People wanna use the excuse about knowing how the dog is bred, then what's wrong with a handwritten ped?? It may be hung?? Most of the stuff from the ADBA IS HUNG FOLKS.... IF YOU DIDNT DO THE BREEDING, YOU DONT KNOW!!!! Sell me a bulldog and i have no complaints.... The papers aint worth a damn if the dog is a POS!!!!!

You bred the dog yourself. Why would you send some organization money, so they can send you back something you already know?
Nothing matters but the dogs. Registries send you paperwork which includes lies that have been there for a long time and those that have been there a short while. Truth is more important than parchment. Nothing is either legit or illegit but what you know and see yourself.
